digital recorders

Hey folks - All this recent talk of recording clips has got me all excited about getting a digital recorder so that I can get feedback from my fellow Chiffers about my playing. So, what are you guys using? I was looking at the Sony IC Recorder. Does anyone have one or recommend something else? Also,...

Thanks you guys!

And yes Jim, I am planning on the partially lined headjoint with tuning slide, rather than the fully lined headjoint with tuning slide.

Allergy issues aside, does anyone just worship the tone of cocus? Cocusflute, mebbe? :P

Olwell flute discussion: Round 2!!

Ok, folks. I appreciated your thoughts on the Nicholson vs. Pratten issue immensely. I've decided to stick with my original idea: Nicholson unlined (for that yummy, super wooden sound like the unlined blackwood Ward I play) design. Question for all Olwell owners or those who've played them: What ton...

Thank you all very, very much for your thoughts on the Nicholson vs. Pratten debate I've been having. After having read what sturob, jim stone, cocusflute, chas and other knowledgable folks have had to say, I'm probably going to stick with the unlined Nicholson at this point. Dpmcabe, I actually pla...

Olwell medium versus large hole models

Hi folks - Thought I would see how people feel about the difference between the medium (Nicholson) and large (Pratten) hole size models of Olwell flutes. About 5 or 6 months ago, I played an Olwell Nicholson that had magnificent tone quality and outstanding volume. Has anyone played both models? If ...

Storing the flute and humidity

Hi - I've noticed that after storing my blackwood flute in a sealed tupperware container with a damp dishtowel, the surface of the grain has raised in certain areas on the outside of the flute. It would be noticably wet when I took it out of the container after, say, 12 or so hours at a stretch, and...

Tuning slide woes

Sorry, forgot to mention, it's blackwood, not delrin. I think you're right Chas - I must be humidifying it too much (Arizona, after all). I guess the headjoint must have swollen enough to break the adhesive bond. I really have no idea how to get in touch with Paddy Ward, as the email address on his ...

Tuning slide woes

Hello everyone - I thought I'd ask for any advice you kind folks might be able to offer. This past weekend, the female end of the tuning slide came loose from the barrel of my keyless Ward flute. It's hard to tell by inspecting the newly vacated end of the barrel exactly what type of adhesive was us...

Lost a friend last night

Thank you all for your kind replies. Harrison was so much loved in his life, and that is a stark contrast with most of the cats in this world. Someone told me earlier that Harry won the biological lottery in being our cat. Well, we won the cat lottery, because we could not have asked for a better fr...

Lost a friend last night

My cat, Harrison, was 15 years old. He had been suffering from lung problems for the last 6 months or so. Yesterday afternoon, I could tell he was feeling poorly because he cried out and it sounded like a baby crying. We petted him and soothed him, and then went to run some errands. When we got home...

FS: Colin Goldie (Overton) Low D

Hello -

I'm looking for a keyless flute right now but am not allowed by the boss to get something new unless I get rid of something old, in this case, a Low D Overton made by Colin Goldie in 1999. It is not tunable.

Pics are available by request. PM me if interested!

Thanks
Gordon

Wanted to buy: Seery flute

Hello -

I'm new to the board but not to ITM. What I'm really looking for right now is a keyless D, preferably a Seery. If anyone is looking to make a few bucks on their Seery, please let me know! I also have a very nice Colin Goldie low D for trade or sale if that interests you.

Thanks!
Gordon
