SPF - 6 key Baubet Blackwood Rudall sterling/nickel SOLD

Thanks, Chiffers. Looks like this one's found a new home. Hello - Up for sale is a flute I bought at the Irish Flute Store last year, which is getting very little play these days, so it's time to find a new home for it. It's a six key flute made by Francois Baubet (Galway) in the Rudall & Rose s...

CP - "Between Friends" by Gordon Gower and Zac Leger

Hello fellow ChiffyFipplers - Long time no post! I have a few pals around here so I thought I'd drop a line and let you know I have a new album available for digital download or hard copies via iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby. I recorded this several years ago, but life got in the way with marriage, step...

Re: Baubet, Vincenzo di Mauro, and Copley delrin opinions?

I've never tried a Vincenzo di Mauro flute, so I can't comment. I will say in spite of the fact that Francois has become a friendly acquaintance of mine over the past few years, I'd say that my delrin Baubet plays almost as well as my Olwell, and plays almost identically to the Wilkes that Francois ...

Re: James Galway & Matt Molloy discuss flutes

Zoom in on Galway's badge. I think it must be an award he won for going from one note to the next without using ornaments. Go on, James.

I may know a different version of Strike the Gay Harp, as the one I know is a 3 part in D. What Sylvain is playing there I know as a two part Bm jig called Mulvihill's.

Have a listen to Sylvain Barou playing a Lehart Bb, if you haven't already.

Re: Thoughts on Bb flutes?

Bb flutes are one of life's guilty little pleasures for me. I used to own a keyless Grinter Bb and now play an Olwell, and although the Olwell would always be my first choice, I would definitely second the recommendation for Gilles Lehart's Bb. I played one that knocked my socks off in Ireland last ...

Re: Flutemaker Francois Baubet

I recently took delivery of a Delrin flute made by Francois Baubet. I ordered it from him on a Monday, and it arrived in the post the Friday of the following week, so the lead time between order and delivery was about 11 days. He only had Delrin in stock at the time, so that was what I got, which is...
