Re: CP ANNOUNCING: The Enat (E major) tweaked Generation

Something's gone amiss, Casey. I'm behind with some orders that were done through PayPal but not all the way back to December. Let me look into this and see if I can figure out what's happened. Orders placed on eBay are filled within three or four business days. Orders I've received through PayPal ...

Re: Photo of your string instrument

It’s been a year since I placed my order for a Phil Crump 10-string bouzouki/cittern/ whatever you prefer to call these. It should be shipping any day now. It’s ready other than a blemish in the finish that he’s fixing up. I was hoping to have this before St. Patrick’s Day but that’s extremely unli...

Re: CP ANNOUNCING: The Enat (E major) tweaked Generation

I’d just like the tweaked F whistle I ordered back in December, to be frank.

WTB: 2001-era Burke

Years ago I had a wide bore aluminum Burke in D that I foolishly sold off (I think the guy I sold it to lived in France at the time). It’s the one instrument I wish I’d never gotten rid of, so I’m looking to see if anyone here has one they’d be willing to part with. This would pre-date his current n...

Re: FS/FT: Milligan high D, session head, delrin body

After giving this some thought, I’d also be willing to sell my “quiet” head with cocobolo body D whistle along with this as a set. I’ll probably kick myself for it later, but could certainly put the $$ to use. $300 shipped for the set, and I’ll polish the brass and oil the wood before it goes out. T...

FS/FT: Milligan high D, session head, delrin body

I already have another Gene Milligan D with the “quiet” head and cocobolo that I love, so I thought I’d try the other model with the louder mouthpiece. But I find I prefer the one I already had. The session head model has a back pressure that’s just too low for my tastes. Bought through Irish Flute ...

Re: Nashville tuning applied to ITM

Why is ITM so hostile to bass notes? :D As a regularly gigging bass player for decades I found the relative absence of bass in Irish traditional music was odd. I personally like it and wish it was more common, but it does seem that that’s a minority view. I especially like cello accompaniment. I do...

Re: Nashville tuning applied to ITM

I considered using CGDAD briefly, and even worked out the chord shapes, but ultimately decided to stick with DGDAD once my instrument comes in. My thought was that with CGDAD I could capo at 7 and play melody without having to also cart a mandolin or banjo to every session. I may still capo at 7 and...

Re: Nashville tuning applied to ITM

Thinking about it some more, it could be interesting to reverse this and, say with GDAD tuning, lower the A and D an octave rather than raise the G and D an octave. This could add some bass to a session that’s heavy on fiddles, mandolins, and whistles. I also just remembered that I have a baritone u...

Nashville tuning applied to ITM

Hi, I recently discovered this video about Nashville tuning, which I’d never heard of before. Basically it’s when a person uses a set of octave guitar strings for a 12-string and then strings up a 6-string with the higher-pitched strings. You still get EADGBE but it puts the guitar in something like...

Re: Irish ukulele... does it work?

Holy thread bump, Batman! Been a while since I’ve been here, so it was funny to see this thread. Anyway, it’s not great for sessioning, but I still keep my tenor uke in 5ths. I keep it in CGDA these days and flatpick tunes on it when I want to practice quietly. I’ve actually thought of bringing it t...
