Re: maximising your earnings from piping.

Unless you are a virtuoso on the uilleann pipes you really need to play the scotch pipes. All across the good old US of A if you don't play the scotch pipes forget it. In terms of the wedding/funeral/party part of the business the people hiring pipers across the board in this country are fixated on...

Re: Amazing Grace, long version?

Yes I've played that modern Christian-praise-pop version with the added bridge, called Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone. (It's a bridge, not a variation, BTW.) The first time I heard it I threw up a little in my throat but now it's grown on me a bit. . I feel your pain. :D I'm sorry Oleo...pain *b...

Lets also say that you a reasonably good musician and piper, I would say the obvious thing is that you play as often as possible either gigging or busking, but...

Re: British Pathé archive now on youtube

"Google+" has ruined YouTube as we know it. For everyone? mostly. Permanently? remains to be seen. To make matters worse, Google Chrome (for me) has huge problems with video playback.

Re: IMPROVING the Concert chanter tone & expressiveness?

its just a matter of sitting down with your chanter & instead of playing a tune, discover what its really capable of & then going on to exploit that. Take it note by note, see what shades of colour can go on each one by doing this, that, or some other nuance... what kind of 'envelope' suits ...
