I posted a bunch of stuff that I used to have on tape and got recently on CD. Not particularly helpful once I re-read the original post, so I removed it again.

Cheers,

I think my favourite album I bought recently was John Doyle's 'Wayward Son'. I can't wait for him to bring out more. 'In Play' with Liz Carroll was also a great purchase. Also the Solas 10th Anniversary reunion gig CD / DVD which has done wonders to pique my 4 year old's interest in different instru...

Michael Brecker has been one of my most favorite musicians over the years Ditto that. I had the privilege of seeing his band live in Rome years ago, beautiful night, outdoor gig on a mobile stage. It was one of those transformational experiences where your view of music changes slightly forever. RI...

Don't you guys have any planning permission to obtain before you build a house? I tried to get permission to remove a doorway into my ground floor flat and was knocked back because it didn't fit in with the look of the flats to the left and right. Ultimately the planning people have the right to kno...

OK Tesco was a bad example. The one that I do like though is a now-defunct music shop in Melrose called Clinkscale's. The guy who owned it was actually called Jimmy Clinkscale (or so the myth goes). The idea of having a surname like that and opening a music shop just seems.... right I guess.

The other one that bugs me (yeah I know, I should find more things to do with my life) is people who refer to shops implying that the shop is actually owned by somebody with the shop name. "I'm off to Tesco's to get some milk" "Nah, go to Safeway's instead, it's cheaper" "I ...

What I really hate is when people put apostrophe's in where they're not needed. What reason's could they have to do this? :-? I am amazed this slipped by without a response from anyone - this drives me nuts, much more so than any hypenation or full stop issues. Walking down the street, I see I can ...

None of that really affects the user's experience, though, and that's what we're talking about here. As a developer I hate IE, but as a user I'm perfectly happy with it. That's a fair point. I may be slightly biased in that way, but I would still avoid it until the inevitable security patch-ups are...

There are intractable differences between IE and "the other browsers" which I can vouch for as a software developer who writes stuff for the web. It's "the other browsers" that implement the standards and IE that recognises a bastardised version. The fact that IE dominates the ma...

It's fashionable to diss Internet Explorer That's because it's full of security holes. Like most Microsoft products, a fine piece of software marred by poor design and testing. Open source all the way. There are a lot of guys / gals with very big brains in the open source community.Generally they u...

Re: 7.0 Internet Explorer Browser Comments

I wonder if there is a way to disable that feature of IE? I feel like I am being pushed around. Download Mozilla Firefox. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox Until there's been at least 6000 critical updates affecting IE security, I wouldn't touch IE7 with a barge pole. Firefox has security holes too bu...

Interesting topic. I am an infrequent user of Skype. I use it mainly to call my BILs in Dubai at around 10p a minute. Some of my mates are on Skype too so we get free phone calls to each other. Here's the cool thing about Skype - you can set up numbers in any country of your choosing. E.G. If I had ...
