And with an instrument like a harp, the vast majority of the time nobody in the audience will be able to play as well as you do, even if you're a rank beginner!

BTW, my harp is a Ravenna 26 (can't tell if your avatar is a 26 or a 34...).

I just finished Harp Journeys -- a three day seminar aimed at older students. I can attest to how slippery nylon strings are to sweaty hands! I did find out that when playing in public, it's a lot easier to hide behind a harp than it is to hide behind a whistle, which is a good thing when you alread...

With a name like McCluney, there was the usual ribbing about being a "loony", but all in all, not too bad. It looks incredibly easy to pronounce to me, but almost no one gets it right ("McClunney", "McClury", "McLaney", you name it). The name supposedly goes b...

"Whistling" seemed to make sense now that I'm trying to play the whistle. At this point, though, I could have chosen "RecordingArmadillo" ("RecorderingArmadillo"?) or "HarpingArmadillo" depending on my mood...

It wasn't specifically for Easter, but I did play for the first time at my church (a small home-based fellowship group, about 15 people present). Played whistle and alto recorder (trying to get in a range people could actually sing) [not at the same time]. It's also the first time I've ever played f...

Aw, man! I'd just about managed to come to grips with the wait (a Delrin D on order since December) when _this_ thread comes along. Chris said that it could be as short as three months, so I'm hoping to hear that it's ready at any moment.

Moya Brennan -- Signature (similar but not identical in style to her younger sister, Enya). Harper's Din -- Banish Misfortune (actually, this was thrown in with a harp I just bought, but I like it a lot -- one of the main musicians is one of the couple that run Melody's Traditional Music and Harp Sh...

Just wait until you spend an hour looking for your glasses, then realize that you don't wear glasses!!!!

No, at least that hasn't happened to me (and it never will -- I _do_ wear glasses).
