Given that cannon balls tended to send splinters every which way, and that the eye is rather vulnerable, it doesn't seem unlikely to me that the sailors had just plain lost vision due to injuries.

Wish I could have a harpist in my house, just to hear them practice. Be careful what you wish for! Some of us beginners would have you rethinking that statement within minutes. ;) Jef Although, as my husband says, if you're going to have a beginning musician in your house, a harper is what you want...

Between "a little" and "very well", and it depends on the instrument I'm playing (recorder -- closer to very well, whistle -- somewhat south of that, harp -- down to "a little"). It helps if the tune only has quarter notes, no rests, and is in 4/4 time :wink: The breakt...

I went there back in February looking for recorder music -- I asked about harps (not really planning to buy anything), and within a week or so bought my Rav 26.

My sentiments exactly! I'm really fortunate to live in a town that has an actual harp store (Melody's aka www.folkharp.com) even though being on the other side of Houston still makes it a 35 minute drive. That place is amazing for instruments and sheet music (and all around great people). And harps....
