Re: Ebay Fentum flute..

Yea, I didn't realize that the short F wasn't original until this morning. Pointed peak detail where the spoon meets the cup as opposed to the flat detail on the original keys.

Interesting idea about the casting. We've seen short F fail before I think.

Re: Ebay Fentum flute..

Minutes strung into lots of them.... damn L.A. traffic. Thanks Jon! :) An interesting thing. The HJ from my 8-key "Wylde" could not have fit any better into the barrel belonging this Fentum. Both liner tubes appear to come from the exact same tube stock or at the very least made from the s...

Re: Ebay Fentum flute..

Hmm.... I'm apparently a whole lot more country that I realized. I whole lot. :D So, it's arrived! It is indeed marked on all expected parts Fentum London with the LH joint only marked: Fentum 29 Queens Row Walworth London So that puts it 1844-45. Remarkably good condition actually save for one pad....

Re: Caoimhín & Seán Ó Fearghaíl and Tomás Ó Gealbháin

Yes it's a Fentum, I also played some tunes on it. Interesting! Well there couldn't have been all too many of those rose engines around eh? Just a guess but perhaps they were all sourcing part or finishing work from the same machinist? I've been told, and I don't know if this at all true, but Chris...

Re: Caoimhín & Seán Ó Fearghaíl and Tomás Ó Gealbháin

Oh my that's some lovely playing. How it should be I think. :). Going have to get that CD. Fentum? Maybe. I'll trust you've seen it up close and you certainly are the one to know. The few I've seen with that wide ring set up and rose engine turning on them and crown were Blackman of about that same ...

Re: Ebay Fentum flute..

Well Moritz, who knows what the future will bring? Of what is known is that it will be brought back from the grave and given some well deserved love. Actually, it only looks "mostly dead" so that's good. :D Given the number of great Fentum I have had the luck to drive about there is a rath...

Hmm 7th Vermont. Rough going. Lost many to illness.

I wonder what tunes might have been played on that.

Explain Church?

Who can? Yea... but I have a question. Why don't the wafers taste better? I'd think BBQ or Cool Ranch would be a big hit. Papa get on that ok?

Re: A Flute Like This One...

I'm looking for a flute like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW18di2WhL4 It doesn't need to be from the same maker (in fact, I'd prefer something not too expensive), just the same key and with a similar sound. Any good suggestions? :) That glorious sound comes a lot more from Brian than th...
