Re: Swedish bagpipes course in Minneapolis in March

Think positive; Move your state further north! (or invade) American pipers or would-like-to-be's I have communicated with over the years, a great number I should say, are spread out all over the continent. So, wherever you locate such an event, most students have to travel I'm afraid. For the beginn...

Swedish bagpipes course in Minneapolis in March

If there is sufficient interest, I may give two short Swedish bagpipes courses in Minneapolis on two consecutive days in mid-March - one for beginners and one for more experienced pipers. Pipe maker Seth Hamon will provide instruments on loan/purchase. See post on the Swedish bagpipes' forum (NSAA) ...

Thanks Bill and Chris for the demonstration! And to Stefan for organizing the event! I couldn't stay for the rest of the weekend unfortunately, but it was a treat just the same. It was nice to see the Coyne set again. I have not seen it since Stefan Kayat and I took some pictures of it 11 years ago....

To me, what all this boils down is this: Is there really a market for professionals in traditional music (leaving the contradiction in terms aside) or are we just trying to uphold it by artificial means? To me there is very little correlation between professional/amateur and good/bad. Some of the be...

How many sackpipa players would you guesstimate there are in the US + Canada? I know of at least 28 Swedish bagpipe owners in USA and Canada, many of which also have building experience, and many more who was in the process of buying or building one when I last heard from them. California and Washi...

Howdy folks, Long time no write (from my part). I do apologize for the bad picture quality of the Coyne pictures, but please keep in mind that they were taken 10 years ago. The digital cameras of the day were not that good. (In fact I have seen the model I used on display in another museum :-) We to...

I love the sound and look of Swedish pipes and have been wanting to play them for some time, but I couldn't find enough info on them. That website is fascinating! There is more than enough info to at least get started. Now that's a contradicition if I ever saw one! :-) Thanks for the compliment, th...

The Pastoral pipes (or at least some sets) seem to have several things in common with the Dalsland set; * drones pitched at the fifth as well as the tonic, * foot joint, with a vent hole and keys I wonder what the ring key on the Dalsland set does? The Dalsland set does not have foot joint. The cha...
