Re: Recorded guitar+flute tunes?

One option may be "Celtic Music for Flute" by Jessica Walsh & Allan Alexander. This is a CD and book with chords and music score for the flute. The flute/guitar interplay is very nice.

Re: flute comparison?

Since you had good experience with the Sweets have you considered their 4 keyed wooden flute? I have one which I really enjoy and it is fully chromatic. Currently they are listed at $795 USD which converts to about 625 euros (to compare with the M&E price). I have not had experience with a M&...

FS Tony Dixon Rosewood

I have a Tony Dixon Rosewood flute I would like to sell. The head is unlined and plays well. The flute is in good condition - no cracks or problems. I am moving to a keyed flute and need to clear the deck to make room for my new acquisition. The case is fine as well. I would like to get $200 for it ...

Shannon & Matt Heaton in Milwaukee - 3/13/07

Shannon & Matt Heaton are giving a free concert in Milwaukee at the UWM student union on Tues. March 13, 2007 from 7 - 9 pm. If you have heard them, then you know what a treat you are in for ... if you haven't, you should! Shannon's flute work is sensational and Matt's backing makes it all work....

FS M&E Standard

I am selling a M&E Standard I bought off this board several months ago. There are only so many places I can hide flutes and my wife is getting suspicious so one has to go and this beauty got the short straw. It is a fine instrument. You can trace a little of its history at this thread: htt...

At the risk of confusing things more - I own both a M&E and a Dixon 3 piece but with a major variation - I have a wooden headjoint for the Dixon that I got used from Doc Jones. Prior to obtainng that I preferred the M&E since it had more 'character' - however, with the wooden headjoint there...

"Mixed Marriages"

I recently bought a wooden headjoint from Doc Jones made by Tony Dixon and am using it on my Dixon 3 piece polymer flute. As Doc advertized, it has a totally different sound and response as compared to when the poly head is on. For lack of a better term it is more 'organic', woody and I can 'stick' ...

I have the first flute you asked about as well as a Dixon 3 piece, non-tunable. The Dixon plays better and 'easier'. The woodon one came with no markings to confirm 'Pakistan' or not. It is in tune and it does play well enough. I have needed to use the tuning slide to play with other instruments and...
