Re: Suggestions for a travel and practice whistle?

Maybe it's possible that your lost parcel was a casualty of the mail disruption in the UK a couple of weeks ago. Yes, the vendor and I cordially exchanged messages about the troubles with our postal services. But It was shipped back in mid-December and I had given it until yesterday to arrive. My l...

Re: Suggestions for a travel and practice whistle?

Well, either the Royal Post or the USPS lost the Dixon Trad that was shipped to me by a distributor in the UK. :(

I can't find another vendor that has it in stock so I might look for something else.

Thanks again all for your suggestions. I now have to go back to shopping on the web.

Re: Suggestions for a travel and practice whistle?

I'd suggest looking at Goldfinch Whistles: https://goldfinch.eu/our-instruments/ Thanks for the suggestion. Those look interesting (along with the aforementioned Parks ). It seems though that no retailer has stock of them. Clearly there are supply-chain issues in some parts of the whistle world. :(

Re: Suggestions for a travel and practice whistle?

My 2 cents is if you have only played Susato because you really like them, you dont need to deviate and try others. If you have things you dont like about them, it could be worth trying others to fix those disliked traits (and probobly introduce new issues haha). My first whistle was a Clarke (whic...

Re: Suggestions for a travel and practice whistle?

Thanks all for your suggestions! What sound do you like? How do you like for a whistle to play? It's difficult for me to answer since all I've known are Susato Kildare whistles. I'm wondering if there's something out there that's even easier to play than a Kildare even if it isn't loud. I understand...

Suggestions for a travel and practice whistle?

I’m finding myself in need of a travel and practice whistle to just toss in my backpack. It doesn’t need to be loud obviously and I think a quiet(er) whistle would be a plus. I'm currently considering: A Dixon Trad D nickel : Inexpensive. I'm intrigued by the claims that this has a "sweet"...

Suggest a 3rd body for my Susato V-series please?

I'm thinking of getting a 3-body Susato V-series (very small bore) set from TheWhistleShop. I know that I'd like to get bodies for D and Eb. The remaining choices are E and F. Which might be more useful? EDIT: Just for additional information, I already have an older S-Series set with bodies for Bb, ...

Thanks. I'm absolutely open to recommendations.

Many thanks! I can now look up the proper whistle tutorials on YouTube.

Can someone ID the tunes played in this video?

There's a video on YouTube entitled "Irish Hornpipes - Wouter Kellerman on Fife - The Live Sessions (Part 1)" . Kellerman is performing on a Yamaha fife but I assume that it can be performed on a whistle. I don't yet know if forum rules allow me to link to YouTube videos but you can search...

Re: Hello from the California Central Coast

Thanks for the welcome! My whistles are from the S series ( Small Bore?) which seem to range from B to Eb. I'm not sure how my old set happened to get a Bb body. The M series (Medium Bore?) seems to range from G to Bb (so A is included). The V series ( Very Small Bore?) seems to range from D to F. I...

Hello from the California Central Coast

I thought I'd just introduce myself. I'm trying to make progress in playing the whistle and am hoping that being part of this community will help me along. I still rank myself as a beginner and am working off the old Bill Ochs book from The Pennywhsitler's Press . I just have three Susato whistles: ...
