Inhaling through nose
Hi folks. Ive been reading a facinating book about the health benefits of breathing always through the nose rather than the mouth. Now I know it feels instinctive when playing flute to take sharp intakes of breath through the mouth because it feels easier to quickly fill the lungs...but has anyone h...

Flute in b!
Hi folks. Ive just purchased a wooden flute on ebay and it arrived this morning. Im pretty happy with the quality, but it is pitched in b rather than d! Has anyone else come across such a flute, and do they know of a b flute being used in the irish tradition?

I have a 'fidgin fain' plastic low d whistle, which has a lovely sound, but even the slightest of breezes interferes with the sound, meaning busking with it is out the question. Is it worthwh...

Re: Legato playing
Thanks for your advice! Yes, unfortunatly i am one of those gullible players that fell for a cheap pakistani set! However, ive managed so far to hit a high G. Im pretty sure that pipes are not leaking. The manufacturers were good enough to completely refund me! So i have decided to persevere in the ...

Hi there. Just a quick question from a beginner. Ive just started learning on a half set, having been playing whistle for about 20 years. I find im kind of instinctively transfering the legato style of whistle fingering onto the pipes, and im pleased with the results, BUT...im finding im pumping awa...
