Re: You're stranded on an ireland...
Interesting how my small typo opened up for a completely different kind of sharing environment. Yeah, mental health issues are very present in Norway as well, although we have all the beautiful lakes, fjords, and fairytales about "nøkken", who is a water spirit of some sort, playing the fi...

You're stranded on an ireland...
... and apart from whatever stuff you’d care to take with you, you could choose only one low D whistle... Which low D would that be?
Heck, ok, you're allowed to bring another whistle in another key as well. Otherwise you'd probably get dehydrated by only playing tunes in D and G

Re: Anyone tried the Kerry Busker low D whistle?
SevenStars: thank you, that does help. How would you say it compares to the MK, aspessialy when it comes to weight? And have you by any chance tried the busker low F, and if so, how would you say it compares to the low D? Narzog: yeah, that kind of helps, haha :) I used to have the last thunderbird ...

Anyone tried the Kerry Busker low D whistle?
Hello! I know there are other posts in this forum about this, but they all seem to be pretty dead, so I’m trying here instead. Has anyone by any chance tried this low D whistle made by Phil Hardy, cold the busker? I’m considering getting it, just because I’m curious . So I figured I would do some re...

Re: Goldie low D
Hi, just to avoid confusion. When I've ordered from Colin on the phone, and I've done so several times the last year, he always gives numbers to the whistles he plays for me. The way I understand it, and I'm 99% sure I'm right, the numbers he gives the whistles has nothing to do with the height of t...

Re: Comparing a Goldie low D and a MKPro low D
Pancelticpiper, when you talk about the two different Goldie whistles, you have, one being soft blowing, and one being medium, what are the actual measurements in mm? My first one is 0,85, and my new one is 0,95, wcich I actually prefer

Re: The search for "the holy whistle grale".
hello again! I have just ordered and received another low D from Colin Goldie. The other one I have from him is a medium hard blowing, 0.85 mm. This one is 0.95 mm, and it’s much more to my liking. obviously, I would need to spend some more time with it to really get to know it, but I think I like ...

Re: Comparing a Goldie low D and a MKPro low D
... And now, I have decided to cell the MK, and stick with the Goldie. It's sad to part with such a beautiful instrument, but I probably don't need more than one low D. Actually, I'm considdering getting a Goldie lođ D medium/soft. My guess is that it brings something other to the table than the har...

Low D's made out of wood?
After having searched the forum, I figured I'd just as well make a new post, with the following question: Are there many low D's to be found, made out of wood rather than metal? What's the name of the brands, makers etc. And, if you've tried one or more, would you say that there are big enough diff...

Busker low D, thoughts?
Has anyone tried the newest low D made by Phil Hardy? The kerry/chieftain was my first favorite low whistle brand, but I haven't bothered with ordering the newest low D. I played my MK low D while listening to this video, and it actually sounded quite similar to the busker low D. Here's the first vi...

Re: Comparing a Goldie low D and a MKPro low D
PancelticPiper, that's a very interesting point of the volume of air passing through. Actually, you've just helped me putting a word to something which I haven't been able to articulate before. I actually love that sound. I think it sounds more soft and natural in a way. But when I'm blowing, I pref...

Which low C do you play, and why? And if you've had others you don't play anymore, why not?

Comparing a Goldie low D and a MKPro low D
I'm writing this review for primarily three reasons. A: Sort out my own head. 2: Hopefully help someone else on the same quest. 3: Get insight from others with the same dilemma. I know it's been written about many times on the forum, but I know that the Goldie models are being developed by Colin non...

Re: The search for "the holy whistle grale".
Well, I have two correct some of the things I wrote above. I just had a long play on the Goldie low D and C, and the MK low D and C. I said that the space between the two lowest holes on the MK C was much bigger than on the Goldie, and then I couldn’t cover it with my regular finger position. Howev...

Re: The search for "the holy whistle grale".
Narzog, thanks for your question! I'll give you my thoughts and impressions, because yes, I do have an MKPro low D as well. First, let me rephrase myself, because the MK low C does have backpressure :) When I said it didn’t, I was comparing it to my Goldie low C, which is a hard blower. Compared to...
