Re: My Wife Calls me "Dougie"
I'm also a Doug - way back in college someone noticed that if you pronounce the "ou" in Doug the way it is pronounced in the word "through", my name would sound like Doog. I have been Doog or Doogie to a large group of people ever since. When I wa playing jazz my band was the Doo...

Well, Coatesville is more like Philadelphia than NYC, but that's OK - I'll see you there!

I use silk with a cheap plastic rod I got a ways back. I don't always do it especially if I haven't played for a long time.

Re: Whistles You Like and Play
I just play at sessions I don't find a use for many keys. I play my Busman D at sessions when switch from flute to play whistle. I also have a very nice whislte made by Greg Mahan - The Wandering Whistler. He was making whisltes for a short time some years ago. The one I got from him is a D in Cocob...

Re: Very good flute for a beginner
Will second Casey's self promotion. I have a Boxwood Folk Flute and some other flutes as well. I still go back and play that Burns flute often. It has a softer tone that is perfect at a 2-3 person house session. Very nice flute.

Re: Need a Suggestion For a Good Starter Irish Flute
I recommend the Casey Burns Folk Flute. If you're lucky, he just may have a "factory second" that will save you some money. I have one of these in Boxwood that is abaout 2 years old and it is one of my favorite flutes.

Re: Casey Burns folk flute or Sweetheart resonance flute?
The Casy Burns Folk Flute is the real deal. If you're a new player, it is well worth the investment because you may just keep using this flute for years to come. If money is very tight, look at his website and contact him about the availablity of one of his "factory seconds". They are pret...

Re: The Central Nervous System and You - 101
I don't have the nervousness problem but I do notice that in a session environment, I usually need to play louder than I practice. That means blowing more air and requires me to breath more often. I guess I could practice that way too, but I don't. It's just a small adjustment to make, although it m...

Re: Cuts Technique
Grey's cuts may sound "smoother" because the "note" that makes the cut is close to the note your playing. (I'm using the quotations because the cut is not really a note you play.) If you want a larger, rougher sound to your cut you may want to cut using a different "note&quo...

My CB FF replaced my former "session" flute. It is plenty loud enough and tunable to work in a session. I have the Boxwood model.

Re: Breton Music - Expert Help Needed
How about some sources for CD's - music to listen to? I have all of Kornog's available discs and some others - including a sort of tourist "Music of Brittany" thing.
