WTB: Goldie low D whistle (soft-blower)
Preferably within EU to avoid VAT and customs duty, however if the price is low enough I'm willing to also buy from outside the EU and pay the taxes myself on top of the selling price.

Re: Playing with backing track
Personally, I would record the video with whatever camera you have access to. Don't worry about sound quality since we'll not be using that audio. For the audio part, I'd use a DAW (digital audio workstation) such as REAPER on a computer to both play back the backing track to your headphones, and to...

Re: best low D please UK
I love my MK Pro. It's a very "robust" whistle that you can blow quite hard without accidentally jumping the octave, and the small holes are easy to seal. The sound is powerful, quite airy and has this almost dirty texture to it which makes it interesting. However, the weight combined with...

Re: Good (and affordable) aluminum low D whistle?
Here's a sound example of the Chieftain V5 by the way. I had only just gotten the whistle so I wasn't used to it (and I don't have it anymore). Such a joy to play but you can hear it has a very mellow sound which wasn't ideal for me. https://voca.ro/1eQSIDH6ZNbR edit: seems I had tuned the whistle q...

Re: Good (and affordable) aluminum low D whistle?
If MK Kelpie plays anything like the MK Pro , I might suggest it. However it's non-tunable which is a big no-no for me personally since I record over backing tracks. I managed to find my MK Pro for €150+shipping used but that was a very very good deal. I tried Chieftain V5 from Kerrywhistles. The p...

WTB: Goldie Low D (soft-blower) in EU (possible trade to Carbony low C with close finger spacing)
I know these don't pop up often but if someone in the EU has one that needs a new home, I'm interested. I would be willing to trade my Carbony low C with close finger spacing, possibly if you pay me some extra since it costs €600 new currently (at Folkfriends) which is more than a Goldie but that's ...

Re: Need Advice on which Low D to buy
I've got a handful of low D whistles (Howard, Kerry Optima, MK, and Humphrey) and of these, for me the absolute standout is the Humphrey Journeyman low D. Straight away i loved it but it took me a day or two to figure out why. It has everything i want: good volume, no clogging issues so far, and pl...

Re: The new Carbony bass whistles with close finger spacing
There's a video on one of them now. I want it but damn, I just don't have that kind of money. https://youtu.be/mdUdTAn0_rc Perhaps I should try my luck with a Shearwater bass Bb or something. Can always sell it if I can't play it. Alba also makes bass whistles, that actually seem quite good. IDK ho...

Re: Bass low C Whistle
I have a Carbony low C with close finger spacing, and a Goldfinch. The Carbony is incredibly ergonomic, feels like playing an alto G whistle or something because of the close spacing and incredibly small holes. The sound is very quiet, airy, mellow, muffled, and has a unique character. Doesn't need ...

The new Carbony bass whistles with close finger spacing
Has anyone tried these? I like my low C and there's no way I could play a "normal" bass whistle so I'm intrigued despite the $650 (plus 24% import tax for me) price but I can't find sound examples of these whistles.

Re: Shipping whistles to EU countries
I haven't shipped anything to EU but I've received whistles from non-EU countries, namely UK and US. In those cases I had to pay VAT (24% for Finland) and provide the customs office with some sort of documentation of the value of the goods. A PayPal receipt was seemingly enough in both cases since I...

Re: Most Forgiving Low D?
As mentioned Carbony has the 'close spacing' low D but I'm pretty sure the normal version is still closer spacing than most because its conical. I could be wrong though I dont have one. Correct, the spacing is even closer than the ABS Dixon. I don't have a comparison pic with the Dixon and I don't ...
