Re: Latest abomination of nature from the AppCordions labs

That’s impressive, Michael. It looks like you are getting very close to having a digital full set of pipes.

Re: WTB: Kelleher Bellows

No problem, I understand. Someone has inquired about them, so let me see if he still wants them. If not and if you’re still in a fix, I’d be happy to send them.

Re: WTB: Kelleher Bellows

Well, it’s been two weeks and I’ll take the lack of a response to this as a “no, thanks” and withdraw this offer.

Re: Reedmaking and tone.

I’m sure that you would have sounded terrific in any event, Patrick.

We’ve heard similar anecdotes with the same conclusion but this is has essential details that drive the point home.

Re: Reedmaking and tone.

Other than the reed and chanter, the piper has a bit to do with creating tone - how he/she attacks the note. A few years back, I had the opportunity to play Paddy Keenan's pipes at a workshop. He had been playing the set earlier in the class and it sounded great - bright and sweet. When I played hi...

Re: Back to Bottom D Quickly Without Squeaking

Thanks, Tou-Che. I’ve had a lot of luck so far with this. It was a big obstacle in the past.

Re: WTB: Kelleher Bellows

Does it have to be a Kelleher set of bellows? I have an extra set of bellows that has, roughly, the same sort of brass tube attachment angled a bit differently, but they are airtight and work roughly the same as Kelleher’s bellows. (I have a 3/4 size set of Kelleher bellows, so I’m speaking from tha...

Re: Back to Bottom D Quickly Without Squeaking

That is such a good example because he does it repeatedly in the first piece.

Also, great video, thanks again for sending it. All the best!

Re: Back to Bottom D Quickly Without Squeaking

Thanks, Geoff. Let’s just say you’re going from back D to bottom D to make it simpler (I’m setting up the context for my question regarding what you just wrote). Are you saying that you open both holes with your upper hand’s index finger and thumb, i.e., vent those two holes as you go to bottom D an...

Back to Bottom D Quickly Without Squeaking

I was playing a version of a reel I learned a while back yesterday and keep having the problem of having the chanter squeak on bottom D after going to it from a back D (It’s actually the transition from bar 11 to bar 12 in Mick O’Brien’s version of “The Silver Spear,” I think… [don’t have the record...
