Re: Aulos Stanesby Flute
Thank you for those ideas!, I'll certainly give them a go. I'm not using the Stanesby for ITM, just to maybe have a go at some Hotteterre, leclair etc. I find it hard nowadays to cover the bigger holes on an "Irish" flute due to having had hand surgery, so I thought I'd do better with the ...

Aulos Stanesby Flute
Evening all, I just purchased an Aulos Stanesby flute, and I'm having difficulty fingering the f natural and f sharp to make the difference in pitch noticeable, whichever fingering I use, there is minimal difference between the two notes. I have played all sorts of flutes including a Folkers and Pow...

FS: 8 key "Nach Meyer" flute WITHDRAWN
I bought it to try to play an open hole flute again after having surgery to my right finger, but alas, I find it impossible to cover the right hand holes consistently due to the finger being a bit misshapen, and also the fingers are out of alignment, so I 'll persevere with my silver flute. There ar...

Re: German Flute
Thank you both for your insight and advice. I'm not too enamoured of the endcaps, so it wouldn't be a great loss to me if they er, went missing! Of course they'd be replaced by something a bit plainer and more to my taste. Would it be a crime if they were to be removed totally?

German Flute
Hi all, haven't been around on the forum for a while, due to some hand surgery, and problems playing the SS flute. However I just won, at a local auction a D piccolo, and a German flute for a very reasonable price. I think the flute is a cut above the usual Nach Meyer offerings in that the tone hole...

Re: First time flute buyer
I can wholeheartedly recommend Damian Thompson from Sligo. I had one of his delrin keyless flutes a couple of years ago, and it just sang in my his hands! His embouchure cut and hole placement were perfect for me, I only sold it as I no longer play the flute, but if I ever started to play again, I'd...

8-Key Frankenflute
I'm selling my flute as I'm no longer playing flute due to hand problems. Its an 8-key instrument with some issues: the bottom 2 parts are different wood to the head, barrel and LH joint, and the barrel has a couple of cracks resulting in air leaks, but a hose clip a la Jack Coen, or electrical tape...

Re: Hotteterre copy. Now with photo
I received the flute today and it appears to be an apprentice piece. It is indeed very well made, it plays a little flatter than A440, and the intonation isn't too bad except for the upper reaches of the second octave. I've found that the foot has to be extended about 1cm to help its intonation. The...
