Reverb is the extra ingredient indeed!
Most small mixers these days have a
built-in reverb, Behringer, Mackie etc.

A lovely place to play at home is in the kitchen,
because there are so many hard reflective
surfaces.

Best place of all is in an empty church, lovely
long reverb and rich acoustic.

I hadn't noticed the fipple plug bumps!!
So I took a magnifying glass and looked
- nothing there -

"unseen122" - appears to be correct -
I did have a tootle just before I took the pics,
condensation or if you like - spit!

A bit late perhaps - but here is my penny's worth: Sí (pronounced "she") is the Irish for Fairy. Beag (bee -Ugg) is the Irish for small, and Mór (Moor) the Irish for Big. Literal meaning small fairy, big fairy. It refers to two hills therefore: The big fairy hill and the small one! It is o...

Variation is the very essence of ITM. You can have dozens of variations of a song or tune. In fact the real art in ITM, apart from basic good playing or singing, is in adding subtle variations to the tune, timing and/or rhythm, and in adding tasteful grace notes. Many ITM players don't read music so...

I would advise you learn the "pipers grip".
The link below is to Phil Hardy's site where
he has a number of nice tutorials.

Scroll down to "tutorial #1" This deals with the grip etc.

I also hate crowd noise on recordings and tend to avoid LIVE recordings for that reason. If the performance is good enought to warrant putting it on CD then a couple of seconds of crowd noise faded out is acceptable. A performance really has to be one of those special - almost magical interactions -...

I'll chased out of here for suggesting this!!! BUT one of those Pakistani tunable bodhrans are not half bad and they come in around the €50 mark. I have one with a rosewood? hardwood drame - and while I would like a better skin and a few other refinements, I think it does the job for me - a beginner...

Míle maith agat ar son na clips/links.
I enjoyed listening to the clips.
But your whistle playing on that
lovely slow air on Ebay is really nice.
But dont mind me, I am totally
prejudiced towards slow airs

BTW what is the tune you are
playing on that clip?

Thanks again.

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/9206/piper3ho.jpg Nice playing on the Ebay clip!!! Wouldn't mind hearing a bit more of your playing! I am sure you are a great piper, but having listened to just that small bit of playing on EBay, makes me think you would be lost to whistling if you were to move a...

Hi Guido,

Nice to see you on the BB. I have long
admired your work on the plastic whistles
and ABC. I did a couple of posts introducing
your whistle making site here on this BB some
time ago. Great to have you posting now.

Well said DJM. ITM as it has evolved has little to do with what existed a hundred years ago. The uillean pipes or the fiddle, and later the sqeeze box would have been the solo instrument at many dances. The so-called sessions with many players pumping and sqeeling away in virtual unison are the equi...

Hi Phil, I'm wondering if the info we have posted
has served to further confuse or, with a bit of luck,
maybe even helped you to sort the problem?

I would of course agree with not using Internet Explorer,
Firefox is a far better browser with some excellent plug-in
also available. I only wish IE could be removed from
windows altogether.

Mpeg files would be much better again than either QuickTime
or Windows Media.
