Really, if you are willing to spend $500 for a Healy 2-piece, spend the extra $85 and get a Copley.

It depends on the size of your refund, but if you are going to be fulfilled and thrilled with this flute, I suggest a nice blackwood one. I highly recommend Dave Copley. Of course, it you want to wait a very long time, you could get an Olwell or a Hammy Hamilton.

Although I am a passionate collector of high-end whistles, I have put together an inexpensive whistle with a pure, rich tone like some of the expensive ones. I put a tweaked (cavity-filled) green feadog fipple on the Oak tube that was my very first whistle. I really like it.
