[Thread revival. - Mod]

Reminded of this discussion after seeing this video posted on Youtube one hour ago. Seems to confirm my observation.

Mary Bergin in Aberdeen next week...

... and I am to have the pleasure of conducting a public interview / conversation with her. I've got a good idea which topics I'm going to ask her about, but would welcome any suggestions in case there's anything I've not considered. Or if anyone has a specific question they might like an answer to,...

Re: Name that flute player

He won the 14 - 16 flute competition in 1976, and as I recall, got a standing ovation for his performance, the only time I've ever seen that in a...

Name that flute player

Here's a bit of fun. I've been posting on Youtube a few recordings I made at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Buncrana, Co. Donegal in 1976, and came across this video, from a year earlier, 1975 : There's a young flute player playing "The Bucks Of Oranmore" at 3m 13 secs. I'm fairly certain I kno...

Re: The Road to Ballyalla

I've just looked at this on Youtube. I'm afraid I have to disagree with some of the above. "The Connemara Stocking" isn't played at all. There are 3 tunes. The first track starts with a slowed down version of the traditional reel "Tom Ward's Downfall". The Second reel, played at ...
