Brass fipple plug??

I am a clockmaker by trade and have a good supply of brass and it is easy to work on my small lathe. In the process of making a whistle using delrin and plan to try wooden plug as well as delrin. I am wonder what the sound would be like with the brass. This is more an experiment than trying to come ...

Call it "Nice"!

Dirty ... grungy .... beat up .... the SYN is still a great whistle ... and the " C " has a special quality .... bordering on magic. Of course if Erle were to polish them to perfection ... put them in a "beautiful" box and put a tag on them that said "handcrafted by Erle and...

faster whistle

I have recently received two Bb whistles ... one Delrin and one Composite ... and they have different characteristics for sure. If I come off the composite note with the same timing as the Delrin ... the next note seems to sound before the last one is ended. This is on some fairly fast tunes and I r...

Playing alone has its problems

My dog lies down on one side .. ear to the floor .. puts paw over other ear and whines ... doesn't do much for the ego :D :)

New C - delrin

I agree that the appearance isn't as slick as some of the whistles that I own/owned ... but if I had to play a tree trunk to get the sound I wanted .. would be ok .. a mite heavy but ok. This isn't a tree trunk and I actually like the looks of mine .. maybe it is a different style. Also .... what is...

New C .. Delrin

Oh ...now I find out that they were given to more than me ... so much for feeling special :D  This whistle has the characteristics of a "Low" whistle. It has a big whistle sound ... rich clear tones .... and the ability to add "soul" to the sound. And.... you find it all in ...

New C ... Delrin

Was given a Delrin C from a new whistle maker ... and it beats anything I own. Am/was a Syn C fanatic but there is a very good chance that I will Syn no more.

Have the Rayburn .. WB and NB .. both are great whistles ... the WB is great for slow airs .... haunting for sure. NB gives a different sound .. also very nice and can keep up with anything I try to play .. while the WB can't seem to handle the fast ones. Of course this could be my playing LOL! In M...

Mack is right ..... this isn't fun ... but a fresh start is exciting .... hmmm.... seems I had a "fresh start" once .... and several times since then. It always made a big difference in my life.... perhaps this fresh start will as well.

Best C

I purchased a Syn C/D combo and for "me" the Syn C is the best whistle I have played. I have yet to give the D much playing time. The C just has too great a sound to put it down long enough to change tubes. Erle says it is because with the materials he uses ... it all comes together right ...
