I can add that he’s not doing keyed flutes in F at the moment. I do own a keyless F and keyless D, both of which are lovely.

Re: Delrin flute suggestions for 2024?

Over the past 4 years I have tried a bunch of plastic flutes. Sometimes used, sometimes new, but also with the idea of a backpacking flute - Copley (both embouchure cuts) Baubet Seery Somers Forbes Ralph sweet Tipple Paddy ward Damien Thompson They were all good quality flutes, I just wanted to try ...

Re: approximate value of a Laughing Whistle?

Not to thread-jack, but who else makes telescopers? Long-time connoisseur of Laughing whistles here. I even have an ebay saved search. Laughing used to be the only telescoping maker on the marker, which was most of what drove their appeal. The rest was the sound which is similar to a Hoover. There a...

“F” flute makers?

Hard to search for, so sorry if this has been asked, but I’m considering a flute in F. I know Copley makes one. Who else out there does?

Thanks in advance!

Favorite flute rendition of Lark in the Morning?

What’s your favorite flute rendition of the Lark in the Morning? Album, youtube, whatever. I’ve always enjoyed this tune and am looking for inspiration! Thank!

Re: Amateur Maker - Progress?

I think this is a very good-looking flute. I know nothing of acoustic design, but the 3 section w/integrated foot is really attractive. I like the contrasting endcap, and not having a ring on the end of the foot, too.

So what can you tell us about the new whistles and maker?!

I got a whistle from him in mid 2021, and traded a few emails after, but that was my most recent.

Re: Folding bikes

IME it depends on what you’re using them for, and whether you have a genuine space limitation for storage. If you live in a small apartment, roommate situation, etc and need to store them in a small area *and* you’re riding paved sidewalks/streets/paths - they’re fine. Terns are nice, I’ve never rid...

Re: Cutting Foam for a Flute Case

For open-cell foam, the best tool I’ve found is an old-school electric turkey-carving knife. The kind with 2 blades that reciprocate. If you have one of those, you’re golden.

Re: An unusual “in search of”

Does it have to be delrin? I ask because red PVC is easy to come by (home depot, amazon) and you might be able to get someone who works in PVC to do a special one for you. I got Mack Hoover to make a green PVC one for me.

WTT: Seery delrin and Baubet delrin flutes

Edited to add - I’m in the US looking for US trades. Thanks! Have had these for a little bit now, and lovely as they are, I’ve decided they aren’t for me. Purchased from IFS, the actual flutes at the links below. Would trade individually or together, depending on circumstances. Most interested in fl...
