Re: R.I.P. Tony MacMahon
R.I.P Tony McMahon. I'm only learning of his passing now. I enjoyed Tony's music quite a lot. He was a big advocate of Irish traditional music and not behind the door on putting his opinion out there. Sad couple of days for music with the passing of Paddy Moloney today aswell. R.I.P lads

Re: Whats the deal with Sindt like whistles
I never really looked at the whole copying Sindt, as a way of offering a similar looking whistle for alot cheaper, for those who didn't have the patience to wait on him making theirs. I can't speak to the motivation of the Buckleys during the various stages of how their business developed but origi...

Re: Whats the deal with Sindt like whistles
I never really looked at the whole copying Sindt, as a way of offering a similar looking whistle for alot cheaper, for those who didn't have the patience to wait on him making theirs. I never looked at it that way. If that was the case then fair play to Killarney. I looked at it as the manufacturer ...

Re: Whats the deal with Sindt like whistles
Killarney are the perfect clone, because they seem really good, but cost much less than a Sindt. There was a thread a while ago of a guy who has a Killarney who bought a Sindt and he couldn't really tell the difference. With these other clones I expect a much bigger drop in performance. Killarneys ...

Re: Whats the deal with Sindt like whistles
Whats funny is I don't even think these makers know they are copying Sindt, they are trying to copy Killarney. All the assorted whistle youtubers have Killarneys, like Gingertail, CutiePie, windy whistly, etc. Everyone on whistle reddit recommends Killarney. And theres no reason to spend a ton of m...

Whats the deal with Sindt like whistles
Was looking online and have found another new whistle being released that would put you in mind of a Sindt. I don't own a Sindt but i know people go mad for them. But what is the deal with that type of whistle, seems alot of whistle makers are making in that style now. Obviously the craftsmanship of...

Re: Developing your playing style
I had not logged in for a couple of days. Plenty of useful info has been posted here, and has actually changed my outlook of the trying to "develop a particular style". Especially when playing using emotion was mentioned, now that I have thought about that, it makes so much sense. It's eas...

Re: Developing your playing style
I was just having this conversation with a well flute player about ornaments, or whatever you call them, and the best comment to me was getting the rhythm and phrasing correctly. Also mentioned was that some tunes just sound better bare bones, simple and clear. So don't worry about the fancy stuff ...
