Fiddle pickup
I need to electrify my fiddle for an upcoming to-do. Anyone have any suggestions? Bridge transducer, contact mic?? I did a quick search on the forum and there was a lot of mandolin discussion awhile back. P< works as well if you don't want to waste bandwidth.

Re: Registration for the SoCal Tionól--Oct. 15 Deadline!
Couldn't have said it better Jumper!! Glad you made it safe and sound. I got home at 7 essentially. :-) Great time, sessions in B and concert; adult beverages in great store. Most people made it to Tionol HQ around 11 Sunday morning and broke up at 4 ish. Did I mention the workshops were brilliant!!...

Absolutely agree. Modern bikes with nicely thought-out gears are a joy. Mind you, I never had more fun than I did on my double chainwheel, 10-speed Claud Butler Majestic, which I bought in the early 80s (when the Claud name really meant something). Damned fine bike, that one. Gear changers on the d...

It has a derailleur drop out so, I'll adjust the wheel closer to the seat tube, fix the chain length accordingly and pick the slack up via the drop out (I hope). Of course, I've talked about doing it for the last two years and I've put the "pro" in procrastination for longer than I care to...

...I do agree with Emm about the Air. The lack of cd/dvd drive is annoying in a way. And it's just a hassle to have to lug around a portable one (although they work really well...my daughter has one for her Net Book and loves it). I'd much rather a MacBook Pro. Been a mac guy since 1987 and I am in...

Re: ..it's all about performance... (cycling post)
Very cool ;-) Actually I wonder what's the point of riding a fixie, would like to try one. For one thing less stuff to break. Winters are hard on a bike. Here is an article about Fixed gear bicycles by Sheldon Brown. There is also the Single speed bike. I miss Sheldon  Yeah, Sheldon was a grea...

I want to convert an elderly road bike to a fixed gear. It really does help your spin, does wonders for bike handling. BUT, I will put brakes on it, unlike the current fashion of no brakes. When I took the track class at Dominguez Hills 330m track, it was still hard to stop.

Re: Anybody here driven California 1 in the summertime?
I drove Highway 1 a long time ago in my 914, top off and the cassette deck on loud. The only problem were the super large motor homes that would creep up and down the road. Took a while to get to SLO but it was worth it. Truly a great sports car road.
