FS: Copley & Boegli blackwood flute SOLD
I'm selling a nearly-new 3-piece blackwood flute by Dave Copley. I've had it for just 2 months, and have always really liked Copleys, but have decided to upgrade a bit to a Martin Doyle flute, which I've just ordered and need to fund. I had Dave make an endcap from Mopane, for a nice aesthetic touch...

Re: Tipple flute with or without lip plate
I've been in touch with Doug, who's suggesting that the standard version without the lip plate plays well for both beginner and experienced players through 2+ octaves, so I'll defer to his opinion, especially since this would just be a low-cost flute I'd take with me where I wouldn't tote my wooden ...

Tipple flute with or without lip plate
I'm considering ordering a Tipple flute for a backup/no-maintenance flute, but just heard from Doug that he's no longer offering the lip plate option. Has anyone compared the lip-plate 'model' to the one without it? I'm inclined to believe that the extra chimney height would give a PVC flute improve...

Re: Narrow Low D
My Goldie narrow-bore tenor D has an interior dimension of 20mm. I'm pretty sure that's the same bore size as the alto F (at least in 2015).David Cooper wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 11:38 am How narrow is the Goldie narrow bore low D in millimetres?

Re: Narrow Low D
The only other maker I can think of who might make a narrow bore low D (as a custom job) would be John Bushby at Shearwater Whistles. I've seen mention of NB Shearwaters as low as G but not low Ds, so far. Might be worth asking. I have a Goldie NB low D (1.0 windway), which is my go-to whistle for t...

Re: Long & Slow Low Whistle Music Recommendations
Welcome to the wild world o' whistles! As for recordings, YouTube videos, ect., you'll probably just have to search through audio files and videos to broaden that musical vocabulary you're looking for. There are countless recordings by traditional musicians that include one or more slow airs or slow...

Re: Setanta production
Here are a few email contacts, if you haven't tried them all yet. Paraic O'Neela might also know how to get in touch with John, since it seems like Setanta whistles were being made under the O'Neela roof, and the shop still sells the Setanta-brand whistle pouches. http://www.jobwhistles.com/contact-...
