Re: Advice, hummelchen or smallpipes ?
I don't have any experience with Toru Sonada, but I know some people playing his pipes. His instruments also seem to be of high quality and are quite popular, so that would also be a good choice :) Let us know once you got your pipes. I'm curious now, which it will be :D With the cuckoo clock now yo...

Re: Advice, hummelchen or smallpipes ?
Yes, the chanter is from C to d'. Besides the standard notes you can play C# and D#, the 2 lowest holes are double holes. For F# there is a 2nd thumb hole to open and Bb can be played by fork fingering. Guess there are also other approximate notes possible with special fork fingering, but I didn't t...

Re: Advice, hummelchen or smallpipes ?
Hi DaisyD, welcome to the forum :) I recently bought a Dreier-hümmelchen from the link you posted. It is my 2nd bagpipe from Cristian Dreier after my A/G medieval bagpipe. His instruments are very popular among German bagpipers and I love both of my pipes. Very high quality and he also is very helpf...

Re: German "Hümmelchen"
Thx
I really like playing it. The volume is convenient to play at home without ear plugs
(I'm sure my neighbours also appreciate it when I play this one instead of the ear-piercing medieval A-pipe xD)

German medieval bagpipe - Skyrim bard song cover
Hi, still all taverns closed in Germany, but not in Skyrim  A short instrumental cover of the bard song "Ragnar the Red" performed in the tavern Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood. Played with a German medieval bagpipe in G/A, built by Christian Dreier. I'm learning to play the bagpipe f...

Medieval / German bagpipe cover: A story you won't believe
Hello together, here is a bagpipe cover I want to share with you, " A story you won't believe ". It is a tavern song from to video game Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt . I like the tune very much since I heard it the first time, so it was clear that I must learn to play it myself :D There are no vir...

Re: Tin Whistle Beginner
Hi! Thank you very much for your feedback! :) I am not sure this is the best tune to put rolls in. That said, I can see a few spots that may take a short roll if you really want to but I'd exercise a bit of caution there and wouldn't go too heavy on them. There's ample room for simple ornamentation ...

Re: Tin Whistle Beginner
Hi, now I've learned my second tune on my whistle, "Foggy Dew" :D Besides some cuts and taps, this time I also tried to add a roll. Learning the ornament was quite easy, but an issue was, where to place it. I decided to play the roll at the end of the 6th note (the e') and then always adde...

Re: German/Medieval Bagpipe and Recorder
After now learning to play the German bagpipe for about 3 months, I composed a short tune, which I want to share with you :) I mixed two recordings of the pipe to conceal little faults  I think the melody can also be played very fast, so maybe it's also appropriate for the tin whistle. But I ha...

Re: Tin Whistle Beginner
While on my way to a player of Irish traditional music, here a little experiment with my tin whistle. Topic is a challenge in a guitar forum. Task is an improvisation (mostly guitar, but other instruments are welcomed as well) to a given backing track. Since I currently have my tin whistle within re...

Re: Tin Whistle Beginner
Thank you all very much for your replies :) I see, the concern how to play 'correctly' can run very deep and get very complicated. So if I understand correctly, for me as a beginner it is better to simply play a lot and listen to other players to get a feeling for that type of music. Practise orname...
