Carbony medium whistle roll tying dilemma

I have a Carbony medium whistle roll which I like. It's well made but I cannot figure out how this thing ties correctly. The two strings for tying seem off somehow. Any one else have one of these rolls? I can't really explain it any more than that. Thanks

Re: better inexpensive whistle that will go to intermediate

I stated before that my first whistle was an improved Feadog. But, it was actually a regular Feadog that was very inexpensive and then I got the improved to see the difference. I've never played a Generation but with all the love they're getting I may need to give one a go.

Re: better inexpensive whistle that will go to intermediate

I would highly recommend an O'Briain Improved Feadog. This was my first whistle. Everyone defines "inexpensive" differently. I have a few of the upper tier whistles and like them very much and have no reason to disparage anyone that loves their Copelands, Sindts, or Abells. And as far as I...

New Whistle from Olivier Bouchard

Received this last week and have to say I really like it. The workmanship is excellent and it comes with a nice leather bag and cleaning rod.

Re: Waiting for Abell D Whistle...Should I buy a Low D???

Well you're really starting at the top with an Abell. They play like a dream. However, i'm no help on whether or not to get a low D. I don't own one only because I'm a traditionalist. That's also why I don't use a low G on any of my ukuleles. But as the cliche says, everyone has different taste. Pla...

Re: New Guy Here

I definitely agree that personal taste is involved in anything hand made and a musical instrument. As far as my comment goes regarding an O'Briain improved Feadog and moving up, again it's that personal preference thing and by no means meant to disparage the improved Feadog. I like it a lot and play...

Re: Whistle Instruction

I like the Cathal McConnell penny whistle instruction lessons on Homespun tapes. He starts out simple and moves on from there. I thinks it's very traditional Irish penny whistle. And keep an eye out for sales and it can be downloaded sometimes for half price. It is accessed through the purple player...

New Guy Here

Just wanted to say hello. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I've had a whistle for a couple years but really started trying to learn about a year ago. My main instrument is guitar. I played clarinet for about six years, so the fingering on a whistle is rather instinctual. I started with a...
