This is probably for a narrow bore model. My Reyburn high D has about 12.3 mm ID .Reyburn D (10.9mm)

Looking at your picture, I see what looks like glue smeared on the inside surface of the barrel joint either side of the crack, plus the crack itself is maybe not filled level with this inside surface. I'm no expert, but my guess is this unevenness of the surface provides one or many small 'channels...
