Re: Ebay Items

Yes, 'tis I, back after dealing with long standing medical issues.

Not back up to full speed yet, but I am currently starting a multi-bored 4 regulator Taylor style set. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Ebay Items

Thanks for the heads up on this post Davy. Given that Ebay charge 10% for their "services" I am quite willing to take £825 for this practice set - obviously off Ebay. I will also include another reed, balanced to this chanter. Please contact me for further info. I will of course post world...

Re: Ebony for sale! Maybe!

Hi James,

You are in the UK?

How long have you had the wood, and are the ends sealed?

I'd be interested in acquring some.

Re: Keyless chanters - Yes or No?

Flutulator, Short F key? Do you mean the "ring" type F key? These are quite common, and often fitted alongside the standard "long" F key, or as a slight variation - as on the Taylor style chanters I make. In fact, only the C natural key is opened from the back of the chanter, all...

Re: Multi track recording app

I have used Meteor Multi Track Reorder on the iPad, along with DAW multi track. Both work well. There's even a version of the antique Tascam Portastudio if you're feeling overwhelmed by new technology!

Re: Michael Egan

Michael Egan worked in Star Court in Liverpool before he went to America. Star Court was the artisan quarter at the time, near to the docks.

I looked at maps from the period in Liverpool City Library many years ago. I'll see if I can find the references.

Re: Contact Medir

Small drone cane is also very variable in wall thickness and strength. A significant amount of what we collect in the south of France has to be discarded once seasoned, and thus the commercial suppliers have to increase the price of their saleable stuff.

Re: Wood

Another wood, native to your location, is Gidgee. It works well. You could also try Queen Ebony; it's difficult to get over here, but I have heard good reports of it.

Re: Taylor Style Practice Set for sale

Hi David,

I can't claim this as one of mine! Chris Bayley has done this on a number of sets, It does really help pipers with large fingers, and the right thumb is basically idle.

Geoff,

This is exactly the same as the alternative ivory GPS agencies are selling over here, except they are charging more!

CP Concert D Half Set For Sale

Here is a Concert D set of pipes made in Chris Bayley's workshop. Chris made the chanter, I keyed it up and finished it, and made the drones under his direction. Re: Who is responsible for saving the UP's from extinction

Chris Bayley in England was making pipes in the late 70's. Dave Williams came to him for advice around then, and was shown how to bore out using D bits, etc. Chris gave him his first D bit - 5/32" if I remember rightly. They bought consumables together (wood, tubing, etc.) over a number of year...
