Wow. Flute and new old case arrived today via Priority Mail. Well packed and in good shape. The flute is great. Everything is polished. I can't find the old crack. New adjustable end cap. New pads. New thread on the tenons. The case is perfect. Nice size, even has the original key. Very appropriate ...

Re: Help with Peloubet flute
Wow. I hope whichever relative Hank decides to bestow this on appreciates vintage flutes. You've done great work. I'm going to take a few lessons so I can learn which hole to blow into :) and maybe do a simple Christmas tune before I commit to where it might go next. It really looks good, doesn't i...

Re: Help with Peloubet flute
Thanks for the great response to my query. Based on all the above, plus a little bit of self examination, that the flute is a serious musical instrument and given its provenance it is worth restoring, keeping, and (hopefully) playing. And while that may or may not be true in a financial sense, it is...

Re: Help with Peloubet flute
Well, I'm not a technician, so I don't have expert advice to offer, but IMO, that's a very salvageable flute. If someone gave me that for free, I'd be thrilled. ... BTW, do I know you from the mandolin cafe? Welcome to the chippy nipple, if so. Yes this is the same ole HonketyHank. There aren't man...

Introducing Myself
Since I have just posted my first post, I figured I probably ought to introduce myself. Here goes. Believe it or not my life is based on a true story. And if it isn't true, it ought to be. I am a retired flour miller. In my dotage I have taken up both golfing and mandolinning. Lord help me, now I fi...

Help with Peloubet flute
Approximately 50 years ago, my mother gave me a wooden flute. She said it had been in her family since before she was born (1920) and that she had inherited it from her uncle. If she told me more about who bought it when, who played it, etc, I don't remember. I think she probably didn't know. Her fa...
