FS: set of Susato Tabor pipe + tabor drum +book+CD (ebay)
Selling my SET for tabor players. I bought these items new, I used them briefly in 2016, then stored carefully. Like new condition, barely used. --> Susato Low G Tabor pipe/whistle (3 holes, one-handed playing), tunable, brown polymer with cream accents. --> EMS brand 9" head two sided Tabor Dr...

Re: Whistle Tunes from Other Traditions Beyond ITM?
It's good to judge for oneself. Maybe less good to judge for others. Re: tunes from other traditions... I tend to find for myself that tunes from other cultures are pretty accessible to play on whistle particularly if they share the common thread of being folk tunes . Folk songs, folk dances,...

Beautiful, that 'carved lacquer' effect!
Coincidentally, I just bought some lipstick in that color a few hours ago.

Thank you for your viewpoint, it was exceedingly helpful. Sorry you were frustrated about the similar threads. I feel the same way when I get answers to questions or topics I don't even ask about. I'm glad you found it helpful! I'm afraid that open online forums are a little like cocktail parties.....

Re: Received my Freeman Mellow Dog - I have a question.
Meanwhile, I do have continuity of playing and practice with my Susato Dublin High D. I've followed this thread, but I haven't re-read it before posting this, so apologies if this has been said: I wonder if your problem with the Mellow dog might be to do with being used to playing the Susato. In my...

Re: Mellow Dog help needed
So I have the Freeman Mellow Dog and the only way I can express it is that it's not sounding the way I thought it would. Well this is a bit hard to respond to, since you don't even tell us in what way it doesn't sound like you expected it to. I have a bunch of whistles I bounce around between them ...

Re: Freeman Blackbird versus Cillian O'Briain
You ask: "Is the Freeman Blackbird a tweaked Feadog?" We really should get Jerry Freeman to answer this. When I bought mine, I vaguely recall him saying that the head was from a Feadog, and the tube something else... maybe he makes the tubes himself? Or uses a Gen tube? My memory is shaky ...

Re: After Playing Two Weeks !
I've only been playing a year and a half, but i notice I don't produce as much saliva as I did at first. My whistles are not clogging so muc, and that's a big relief! I do cover the window and blow out moisture between tunes, and that seems enough now -unless it's a really long tune. If it clogs in ...

Re: Received my Freeman Mellow Dog - I have a question.
Does the Blackbird in fact sound less airy in actuality? Yes, with my Blackbird I get a more pure, sweeter sound that’s less airy than what I get on my Mellow Dog. I like them both, but prefer the Blackbird’s tone and low air requirements. On the other hand, I find the Mellow Dog more forgiving to ...

Re: Freeman Mellow Dog on the way...what say you?
My Mellow Dog (d) has sweet and smooth tone. Does not break into squeaks much. Not as chirpy as the Blackbird. Though both seem to be similar in volume, the Blackbird sound 'cuts through' a little more, they don't call it the Mellow Dog for nothing.

Re: An FYI demo of some C whistles
I'm wondering about the Freeman whistle she played, with the green top. She identified it oonly as a Freeman 'tweaked'... but was it a tweaked Generation, a Freeman Mellow Dog, or what? I know it was tweaked, but what did it start out as?

Re: Loudest high D whistle?
MichaelRS, in reading your preferences in your original post, I too would very much recommend the Susato Kildare. I Have some polymer Dixons, including the DX 001 in high D. The polymer Dixons have a nice mellow soft tone, not too much chiff. But my Kildare whistles are much clearer and louder, whil...
