For Sale: Abell High D in African Blackwood. Excellent Condition

My Abell high D in African Blackwood (Grenadilla) and Silver is for sale in the UK. Serial no: 1838, the sweet slightly chiffy Abell sound sings through as sweet as the day I bought it from Abell. I used to play a lot but it's sat in a drawer for the past few years so may as well go to a good home. ...

FS: Abell High D Whistle

I've decided to sell my Abell High D Whistle. Serial no: 1838. Black wood and solid silver mouthpiece, tuning joint, and end ring. It plays beautifully, crosses the octave superbly, and has the typical Abell sweet tone. Contact: r.p.thomas@outlook.com for more information.

But I own two high(ish) end whistles - Abell and Milligan - and the Susato is up to gigging along with either of those. Some of the more available 'cheapies' are wonderful, others are dreadful - as others have sa...

Gene Milligan High D best of all...

... in my view! I bought an Abell High D - it's sweet, and beautifully in tune, but doesn't stand up against the Gene Milligan High D with the louder (performance) mouthpiece. I've used the Milligan in Gigs from Bangkok to Oman and the UK, and every time it performs beautifully. Just saying. Given t...

Northumbrian Pipes - G or D?

I'm a whistle and accordion player who wants to move into Northumbrian piping. I play a lot of sessions, mostly English with some Irish tunes, and the tunes are mostly in G or D with the occasional foray into A or E minor. I can't work out which Northumbrian Pipe tuning to buy - G or D? My 'D' whist...
