Re: Finger Exercises

Everything you say makes sense to me. I'm going to watch your videos and make the changes. Thanks for your help.

Re: Finger Exercises

I've noticed two modern flute players that seem to support the flute with their right hand thumb. This leads me to believe it's at least possible to play well this way. I'm still going to try to master the support you recommend, but I'm curious what you think of their hold. https://youtu.be/x4rpTJX8...

Re: Finger Exercises

"He" in the video is me! :D :poke: Ah! Sorry, I didn't realize. I'm doing all this from my phone, and my eyesight ain't what it used to be. I hope I haven't done myself too much of a disservice. I've been playing casually for 5 or 6 years now. Hopefully I will be able to make these change...

Re: Finger Exercises

I definitely use my right hand little finger to support. My right hand thumb rests under the tube. It is awkward to "push" away with the right hand thumb. My left hand is doing what he says in the video, for the most part. I am trying to be conscious of not using my left thumb, and that se...

Re: Finger Exercises

Excellent. I had not considered this as an issue. Reading about Rockstro now and excited about the potential benefit. Thanks!

Re: Beautiful Flutes

I am on Solen's waiting list, and a major factor in deciding on her flute was the sheer beauty of the instrument. How it looks is almost as important to me as how it plays.

Re: Early learners

I'm relatively new to the flute. I bought a Copely keyless blackwood a few years ago, but have been practicing seriously for a few months now. Also picked up high and low D whistles. I've tried lessons from OAIM, a couple private teachers, YouTube, etc., but by far, for me, the best resource I've fo...
