Re: Boxwood flutes

This isn't about flutes, but bagpipes get plenty of moisture. My friends the Seivanes of Galicia, Spain are masters of using boxwood for their gaitas. Their wood storage room is amazing! Check out this link and scroll down to the "Process" section - https://seivane.es/en/nuestras_gaitas/in...

Re: Advice, hummelchen or smallpipes ?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I just want to say that I have a gaita pequeña from Toru and it is a beautiful instrument. It has lovely tone and beautiful workmanship. Have fun!

Re: Smallpipe Reeds

The standard answer is that it is always best to get it straight from your sets' maker. Obviously that's not working, so your next best bet here in the States is Chris Apps. He may want you to send you the chanter so he can better match it, but he does great work.

Re: Small Pipe Bluegrass?

Hey the old time tune June Apple is fun on smallpipes. Besides that the go to book is by Timothy Cummings - 'An Appalachian Collection' - https://birchenmusic.com/product/an-app ... ollection/

Have fun!

Here is a beautiful rendition of the Scottish "Sleeping Tune" by Gordon Duncan, played on gaita galega beautifully by Susana Seivane. Enjoy!

Re: YouTube NON-UILLEANN bagpipes

This is a recreation of a medieval bagpipe (musa medival) from a partnership with piper/musicologist Raúl Lacilla and the Seivanes from Galicia

Here is Nadia Vasquez playing her own variations on the Galician tune - A Miña Burriña - on gaita galega. Nadia is a fantastic piper and has been studying Baroque musette as well.
