I guess if you tried different heads and got the same result..ID should be out... What about the socket depth into the barrel ? A big gap there might do it ?? (ie multimode) ......or a big mismatch w/ no gap at all for that matter ...

I have played it rather soundly with three different heads on it from a Rudal a Pratten and a Metzer. Plays well enough but I gotta say I'm finding it rather unstable on the low D. Its pretty finicky and it literally warbles unless I overblow it. Its not me. (honest! :D ) I shouldn't expect it to b...

There is some confusion between "M&E" and "M AND E". I have one of each...the "M AND E" looks like it might have been made in Pakistan....it was certainly never hand finished like the M&E (I'll be doing that myself as the holes wern't even deburred) Other differ...

Changing the humidity from 0% to 100% increases velocity of sound by 0.37%.....ie. sharpens by 6.4 cents.... Expansion or contraction of the flute is another matter ........ Edit: Thinking about it, increased wall losses would have a flattening effect. Funny though, the viscosity and thermal conduct...

I don't know whether humidity affects the tone of a flute, but, evidently, the color of the flute does. It's amazing what you can learn when you read the ebay ads. The seller mentions that "the Superb Pink finish helps to give this flute a much warmer sound, allowing for a rich tone with enoug...
