FS: Barna Gabos Key of C Bamboo Flute
Some tunes do sound better on bamboo, especially in key of C, and this is an excellent flute. About a year old, in as new condition and very well made by Barna Gabos. It sells new for $250 + shipping, and I'm asking $150. Pics and sound samples available at https://barnagabosflutes.weebly.com/.

Re: Two-part versus three-part Tony Dixon low D?
Am also interested in the 2 and 3 piece Dixon low D's. Anybody have a 3 piece...would love to see a full review - are the holes closer than the 2 piece for smaller hand players? Thanks - Tod

Cool New Bamboo Flutes!
Hello,
Check out this clip with Barna Gabos playing his latest bamboo flute designs... I have one in F, that sounds great and I've been getting a lot of milage out of - as good or better than the Olwell that I used to own -
Best,
Tod

Re: Bamboo Flute Review for you...
Thanks Jim... I agree Billy Miller makes a good one and probably more economical... but personally don't find them in the same class as Olwell or now Barna Gabos - and by the way I enjoyed your playing of Bobby Casey's jig.

Re: Bamboo Flute Review for you...
Yea, Eilam .... really nicely made flute - shipping from Hungary to Los Angeles wasn't cheap, like $45 for priority, but for the best bamboo that I've played it was well worth it! You know how good bamboo sounds played in a jazzier, more percussive style, ala Brian Finnegan - I can only imagine how ...

Bamboo Flute Review for you...
I’m usually mostly a lurker on this board, but felt that I had share my two cents about this… ends up my longest post ever, being not so verbose - I’ve been looking for a really good bamboo flute for a few years now, ever since my lapse of getting rid of an Olwell bamboo in hard times. There’s somet...

Re: Other options
There are a host of different tunes available here, including Asian, classical, and many others that are quite accessible to simple system flutes - you should be able to find something that you like for a change of pace.... Tod

Re: Projection Practice
I play a lot outdoors while hiking and notice tremendous variability in different locations, in terms of how far/strongly the flute projects, as well as how loud it sounds to me while playing. It really seems unpredictable to me - sometimes I can barely hear myself, and to my surprise people will te...

Re: Olwell D boxwood - keyless no slide on E-bay
I can appreciate his honesty as far as the way he perceives the flute.... really no way to know for sure how this particular flute plays, even given it's an Olwell. I think it would take quite a leap to spend that kind of money on this flute without having a chance to try it out.

Re: Custom M&E for sale on Ebay
Thanks for asking... the embouchure is cut equilaterally, so it plays properly righty or lefty ....
