Re: Raising fingers too high? ( some conflicting advice)
I suspect this is fairly controversial, which usually means that there isn't one truly correct answer. In the bagpipe world, it's a common fallacy that one should keep their fingers close, with small movements, so one can play faster. In actuality, the practice and teaching of most high level player...

Re: Teaching whistle instead of recorder-public school?
I've often remarked on this myself. A whistle is just as affordable and probably easier to play than a recorder, so why not? I've got a whistle in my 2 year old's hands already. Although he can only play a very ear piercing second octave c#, he likes to toot along with dad. I have a high g whistle t...

Re: Anyone tried the Carbony D flute with the chimneys and close fingering?
It depends on your goals, but have you thought about a flute other than in D?
If you do well with a D flute made for small hands, then an Eb from any maker may work well for you.
You could also consider something like an ergonomic D model from Dave Copley with an additional Eb body.

Re: Recommended case
I have a couple of what look to be those McNeela cases I bought on AliExpress. The two I have don't seal well at all. If I run them under a faucet whatever's inside gets very wet. I've tried a couple ways to seal them but no luck. The McNeela cases look to be exactly the same, but maybe not. I boug...

Re: Recommended case
I keep my delrin flute in a cloth roll, as suggested above. I keep both of my keyed wood flutes in these (I have one for each flute): https://mcneelamusic.com/wind/flutes/flute-whistle-combo-hard-case/ It has a substantial wall thickness and the quality is quite good. It is also sealed, so humidity ...

Re: Drilling a hole in blackwood
If this were to be done to a flute, I wonder if you could just make a second end cap to the headjoint with a hole in the center for the piezo? Then it would sit right next to the head joint cork.

Look at this gorgeous Copley Eb 4-key in pink ivory I received last week. It sounds just as good as it looks!

(SOLD) FS: Copley Delrin D, like new - $320
This flute was made in March 2022. It has great energy and intonation while being easy to blow. Dave put a little combing on the ends of the flute for decoration.

Low D Whistle, aluminum and tunable. Unfortunately I'm not sure who the maker is. It has a fairly ethereal sound, quite nice. Size wise the hole spacing is basically identical to the MK Pro, but the holes (and whistle diameter) are a bit bigger. I've included a picture of the whistle next to an MK P...

Hi all,
Looking to see if anyone has a Lehart Keyless they're interested in parting with. I'm in the US.
Feel free to send me a private message.

Re: Playing Outside the Lines
I have volumes 1 and 2. They are very well done, and a great value (I think they're like $11 each?).
They remind me of middle and high school band books I had, but a more mature, adult version.

Re: FS: MK Pro Low D whistle
I'll add, I had emailed Sandra maybe a week ago and it was available. It just so happened one also popped up on Irish Flute Store that same day and I purchased from Blayne.
It's an excellent low D Whistle and worth the price new, and definitely worth $300 used.

Re: FS: MK Pro Low D whistle
Sandra: I attempted a private message, but it seems you might not be set up to receive them. I play a green MK Pro low f, on stage. While I am satisfied with my black Howard low D, I have always wanted to purchase one of Mischa's MK Pro low D whistles in green . When I last checked with him in Scot...

Interesting in purchasing a used low G whistle. Particularly interested in MK Pro or similar level.
