FS Carbony D whistle with extra hole

I have for sale in the U.S. a Carbony D whistle with an extra hole to enable you to play a low C sharp. It is an excellent whistle, barely used, but I just cannot get useD to how it plays, $175.

FS: Tillbury D and Dixon low G

I am culling my whistles to get more (of course). The Dixon is brass, while the Tillbury is aluminum. The Tillbury is quite soft and a bit breathy, while the Dixon sounds like a Dixon. $60US each or both for $100.

Jason:

As a token whistle anarchist, my philosophy is just to articulate the way that sounds best to you when you are playing. Your are not Joanie Madden or whoever so why should you play like the . Have fun playing!

Re: Buying new whistle

I am rather late in this discussion, but, I have a set of Syns. I really liked them at first, and played them a lot. However, coming back to them, I found them to be less responsive and bright sounding than several other whistles.

Re: Buying new whistle

I have a Tilbury. I like it but it is quite soft and is also very sensitive to the pressure of blowing. I also have Dixons, and they are reliable easy to play whistled, good for a beginner.

John Sindt whistles

Early this week I had the great pleasure of briefly talking and meeting with John Sindt (as well as hearing him play two hornpipes he had recently learned.) I know there has been a lot of talk over the years about whether John is still making whistles. When I mentioned that to him, he indicated that...

Re: Need help in Choosing a whistle

Have you considered the Syn? I got a set from Whistle and Drum and am very happy with them. Easy to play and lovely sound.

Low G whistle

I play Dixon and Syn high whistles and am looking to branch out to a low G whistle. I would appreciate any suggestions concerning a good, moderately priced low G.

Irish music camps

To improve my whistling and to get experience in session playing, I am considering attending a US Irish music camp. Does anyone have any opinions on the relative merits of Swannanoa v. Augusta? Has anyone studied whistle with Nora Rendell, John Skelton, or Cillian Vallely?

A step up from a Tony Dixon

I have had a Tony Dixon adjustable aluminum D for about a year now and like the sound and the responsiveness. Unfortunately, I have the tendency to be klutzy and have cracked two head pieces. Could any one suggest an all-alloy whistle that is as responsive as a Dixon and would cost US$150 or less. T...
