Good point. I have tried an Oak mouthpiece on a Generation Eb tube, and it works quite well. I would like to increase the tuning range by making it sharper. Do I still need to shorten both ends?

If I wanted to make a D whistle into an Eb whistle, would it be enough to simply shorten the tube from the mouthpiece end, or would I need to do more than that?

In response to Turnborough’s question, the Oak had a relatively thin bit of daylight, followed by the Feadog and lastly the Waltons, which showed the most light.

I’ve found that a pair of tweezers works well. Any residual that you can’t get out can be removed with a wooden toothpick.

I have a Shaw D whistle. The bottom three holes are twisted to the right so they are not in line with the top three holes. Has anyone else seen this on a Shaw whistle? It is not so bad that the whistle is unplayable, but it is visually noticable.
