M&E flute website is not working
I have no idea who to tell this, so I am posting here hoping someone can pass the word to Mr. Cronnolly or whoever is reponsible for his website. This link: http://www.irishflutes.net/mef/index.htm or just this: http://www.irishflutes.net/ Returns a 403 error (forbidden) with the following text: For...

Re: Flute Photos!!! Come post your flute pictures :)
Unknown-maker Schwedler-type flute. It is not a reform flute despite the metal head, it does not have 24 holes and lacks several reform-mechanism. Any wood is likely black rosewood (I compared the grain to a rosewood piccolo). There is a not-pictured cup that is made out of the same material and it ...

Re: Introduction and an old flute
Yeah, I jumped the gun there. They are perfect match for Meyer flutes.
I'd take it to a repairer anyway for an overall checkup, mechanism maintenance and replacing the cork around the tendon.

Re: Introduction and an old flute
Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm new myself. I believe I just have found a fellow Schwedler-flute player or at least Meyer-flute player. I base this on Rick Wilson's page about such flutes . Those show flutes that are very, very similar to yours. The Schwedler-Mundloch embouchure certainly suggest s...

Re: Question to flutemakers: changing a flute's A4 standard?
I was afraid this would be the case. My teacher guessed as such but I wanted to hear a flutemaker's thoughts on the matter as well. Thanks for your answer. EDIT: Can I ask another question? My flute's stopper has a cork that has the flute-looking part damaged. When I use a tuner set to A4=435 I get ...

Greetings from Hungary
Hello all, I am a new member from Hungary. I have a Schwedler flute ( photos here ) that I have inherited. I had it restored and have been playing on it for months now. I managed to find a local instrument repairer who just had to change the pads and shiny up the nickel-brass a bit. A local teacher ...

Question to flutemakers: changing a flute's A4 standard?
I have an old Schwedler flute made likely before WW2 (it has a Bakelite raised lip plate and has a reform-embouchure). I have little to go on for identification (the best I have is that there is a "P" etched under the foot's C# key). There was likely a stamp on the flute as I can see distu...
