Also helpful if you are playing in a group with a singer, since they tend to find keys that suit their voice, not stick to D, G, Am, etc. PS: I'd stay away from pipers with flat sets if I were you. Sure, they seem cool, but they're a dangerous gateway into a world filled with bass concertinas, viol...

B Whistle

I recently purchased a few whistles in a package deal. In the package was a "B" (not Bb) whistle. Is it ever used? It seems like an unusual whistle to play Celtic music.

Low D Whistle losing its sound?

I recently read that someone has a Dixon Low D Whistle and it is losing its sound. I didn't know a whistle can lose its sound. Any comments. Can a whistle lose its sound?

Re: Hohner Penny Whistle

Thanks, everyone, for giving your opinion on the Hohners. I was curious and you helped me decide to stick with what I have (Kerry Songbird, Sweet Onyx + other inexpensive whistles-Clarke, Dixon, Generation, Oak, WhistleSmith) and with what I know.

Hohner Penny Whistle

Is anyone familiar with Hohner Penny Whistles. On Ebay someone in Greece has many vintage Hohner whistles from the 1970s. Just wondering if any one here owns one or has played one.
