Re: Who knew?
Wiezen and witbier are fine stuff, especially during the hot months of the year. The yeast strain usually depicts the characteristic banana and clove flavors while other adjuncts such as seeds of paradise, fruit zest (generally bitter and/or sweet orange), coriander seed, and other ingredients furth...

Maybe, it looks like they sold some used instruments once upon a time as a promotional when they were getting started. http://www.thecorrs.org/disco/rarities/instruments.html *edit* Looking at some of the seller's other listings it seems they have quite the variety of collectors memorabilia includin...

The earbuds look much less conspicuous for use in pubic situations. You just need some stylish fashion accessories to go over the muffs and you'll have it made, and being winter this may be just the thing! http://img02.taobaocdn.com/bao/uploaded/i2/T1LYhHFBdKXXXXXXXX_!!0-item_pic.jpg_210x210.jpg

Re: Easy fix for a really cracked whistle
After the glue/filler is fully cured it should be just fine (the glue joint would basically be impervious to the oil at that point).

Re: Easy fix for a really cracked whistle
If you do oil it before attempting to glue then you will more than likely have to go in with acetone or anhydrous isopropyl alchohol to drive out the oil enough to make the surfaces able to be glued (many times you have to do this with innately oily woods like teak or blackwood). You may also consid...

Re: Easy fix for a really cracked whistle
If you were looking to keep it as original in appearance as possible one thing you may try is using epoxy glue as bamboo is a fairly porous material. You would likely need a relatively snug fitting piece of dowel or rod of some sort for the bore wrapped with a bit of PFTE plumbers teflon tape (since...

Re: Hermit Hill whistle tour
Alex, is the C reduced volume because the headpiece is interchangeable between D and C? If so does that make for an easier high range and a bit more backpressure? In that case I'd be very interested in experiencing the C version of the heavy model. Basically that first C model used the same size bo...

Thanks for the shout out Greg, and thanks for all the input (and pictures) people have offered throughout this tour and to Ted for helping organize this whole tour event. I'm hoping to get another tour under way before too long that will actually have a full selection of all the different style whis...

Re: Dymonwood
It's not the healthiest material to be turning and making into dust for one as it's composed of multiple layers of hardwood (usually birch) veneer that have been dyed and then compressed under high heat and pressure with phenol formaldehyde resin. Depending on the dyes used they can contain cause a ...

I've sent this whistle on its' merry way. Yes, I do like the overall design and playability. Do you think adding wax into the windway would help (its removable)? Like doing the opposite of the Laughing Whistle Volume thread. I'd experiment with wax on into my dogwood whistle just to get the air con...
