Re: Clementi & Co., C Nicolson's Improved for sale

Cool - I don't know if there's a resource anywhere that lists numbers against year of production?

Clementi & Co., C Nicolson's Improved for sale

Hi folks, it's a good few years since I posted on this forum but I thought it was worthwhile letting you know about the flute I am selling. I think I have followed the forum rules by posting it in the UIE forum & linking to it here . Apologies if this is not the case. The flute was owned by Andr...

eBay: Clementi & Co., C. Nicolson's Improved 8/25 SOLD

Folks, it has been some years since I was last active on this forum but I thought I'd let you know about the flute that I am selling. The Ebay description has all the information but this was a flute that I bought from the late Andrew Kirby years ago. It had been refurbished & given a new headjo...

so I suppose there are no trades descriptions issues. Aside from their definition of Britain. No Scottish audition and no-one from Scotland through to main stages, or at least that's what I was told. Did they have Cardiff and Belfast auditions? I think we are still serving a ban from the days of th...

I have owned and played Hamilton, Seery & Murray. I don't really think that the Seery is quite in the same league as the other two. I played the Hammy for a few years but I got a bit bored with the tone, finding it a bit one-dimensional. (I listen to Paul McGrattan & think this is probably m...

the key to these flutes is a new foot joint. They are horribly flat with the stock foot. Mine was sorted with new headjoint & a good going-over by Chris Wilkes & it is an exceptional flute. I did not play it pre-restoration so I don't know what sort of shape it was in tonally. Mine also has...

I knew a Belfast man called Tom Murray who throughout his entire working life was referred to as Tommy Rae. I don't think he was any relation to Samurai!

During on of the last phone calls I had with him he was telling me about his low blood sugar and the fact that he had to test himself by taking a sample of blood from his finger. In his words: "I get a bit confused, I don't know if I am supposed to prick my finger or finger my prick".

This is very sad news. I visited Andrew a couple of years ago & he was kind enough to let me play his entire collection of flutes - for which I feel very privelaged. My own Prowse came from him, at a very reasonable price after he "felt sorry for me" when I sold my previous flute.........

...but isn't it a basket case? M How dare you - Glinjack has copyright that phrase and will sue you for its illegal use. I believe he also holds the copyright to "a bundle of firewood" and "Sweet Jesus, that's a bag of sh*te" - but he doesn't use the latter that often!

I didn't like The Tass in Edinbourgh though. I met there with an old friend who plays whistles and pipes. There were 9 fiddlers playing. Nothing wrong with them, but they seemed to be really concentrated about learning tunes, looked like a beginners class. We listened for an hour with our cases at ...
