Re: pipe playerFriends Ross's wedding

Indeed it was Steáfán Hannigan. He's told me a few stories about that experience.... He was actually the only real musician in the group and played all of the instruments on the soundtrack. The others were actors just faking it for the camera. I met up with him in Goderich Ontario several weeks back...

Re: Ebay Items

The Lambe set looks to be identical to this one that was posted on Uilleann Obsession about a year ago: http://uilleannobsession.com/classifieds.html#569
But with obvious updates to the bag and bellows!

And now I see on Facebook that the set has sold...

Re: New Basic Chanter Model by Joe Kennedy

Great stuff. Joe certainly makes great chanters. And I've found his chanters easy to reed as well.

Re: Leaky Drones

I have the same. It will take some time and effort to get the bridles adjusted to your liking - and they can be quite sensitive to even a minor adjustment. But after that they are wonderfully steady. Best of luck.

Re: Eugene Lambe bag

If its a rubber bag then "Shoe Goo" can repair it. I have a rubber Ginsberg bag that came apart at the seam a little bit. The Shoe Goo and a clamp fixed it right up. Been good for years now.

Jeff,

Is there any possibility for your uilleannforum site to be archived here at Chiff and Fipple?

Yea I picked up this bad boy. Plays sweet and in tune. The "aftermarket" key work is actually pretty good.
I play a Lynch D chanter and always wanted one of his in C, but he stopped making them.
This one does not disappoint!

Re: Beginner's choice of smallpipes

* Border Pipes from Pipers' Choice * A2000 smallpipes from John Walsh * A shuttle pipes from John Walsh Of those three I would strongly recommend the John Walsh A2000 smallpipes in A. They're about as beginner-friendly as SSPs are possible to be. Border pipes are a completely different beast than s...

Re: How big is your repertoire?

I have learned about 700 tunes (give or take) which comes in handy when playing sessions. However, I certainly wouldn't refer to that many tunes as "my repertoire". Far too difficult to remember how to start them all - let alone actually trying to sound good playing them. I now keep a much...

Re: Female pipemakers?

Of course there is also Stephanie Benson who works together with her husband Tim.

A few years back we shared some shop space at the Goderich festival and Steph was handcrafting some keys - and doing a fine job of it.
