Re: New Low D - tuneable but flat when warm and slide is all

My Chinese dizi are all 432Hz. Very easy to play, but otherwise utterly useless. 432 does seem to be a standard used in the east - I read something to that effect somewhere, and my dizis at least don't disprove that.

All of the books in the series are cliffhangers from what I'm told. I never touch those. I hate them.

Turns out, you can login via HTTPS, at https://forums.chiffandfipple.com/ucp.php?mode=login , then continue your browsing via HTTP, at http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics , and still be logged in. This keeps your password secret, but avoids the problem with the missi...

Re: Best Bamboo Flute?

The dizi is cheap, and insanely easy to play compared to any other flute I've tried. Just blow. No tricky embouchure issues. They're nice. I have several. And I simply covered the membrane hole with tape, avoiding that particular problem. However, my dizi flutes are also totally useless in practice ...

the idea that people should actually go out into the marketplace and buy many copies of a typically defective product . Please. Even though there are variations, Generations aren't a "typically defect product". That's simply not true. All of mine are picked straight from a shop, no pre-te...

I'll try to consolidate my question to this, then: What, exactly, did the "you’re not big on freedom." comment refer to? Legimiticy and who decides it. This was later corrected by Nanohedron who pointed out I had the wrong end of the stick. As you can probably see your first question was ...

Nobody has made the claim you referer to. Read the posts as the dialogue it is. There is a sequence of emergent understanding (The very definition of dialogue - dialogos ) you haven’t grasped. Oh come on. I *did* read the dialogue. You didn't grasp my reply. I asked *what* did the comment about fre...

You might want to read more carefully.

Re: A Kickstarter Electronic Recorder?

https://warbl.xyz/ Perhaps you misunderstand the capabilities of the WARBL. It can emulate a whistle or soprano recorder, and covers 2 octaves with overblowing. One could presumably have a Low D emulation using the WARBL? Maybe I have to look at it again. (Ok I admit to some frustration at the mome...

That web site has a Czech IP address. The owner of the IP is also Czech. Nothing wrong with that, but it's an indication that they're not really located at the provided Brooklyn address.

I admit I would have liked it better without the tambourine in the first one. Or at least with a reduced volume. The second one (the whistle duet) was fabulous.

Re: Exotic Instruments

For the mad scientist, there's always the Zeusaphone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3fJKI-TF9c Aaah, they even sell them! $4495 for that model. Or I could go for a basic version of the zx-160 at $8900. There's a more affordable smaller model at $1900, but although my wife is extremely tolerant a...

If [the wifi connection] does have a password then the router needs to be hacked but many can be. It's not necessary to hack the router if you have access to the network via the password, as is the case for WPA- or WPA2-encrypted public (e.g. cafeterias) networks (or just via a login page as is oft...
