If it will be your last day to live...
Hi Guys, I don't post that much but I do lurk in the shadows a lot. Recently I've seen that our neighbor no longer comes out after hearing him coughing a lot a week ago. He is exposed to alot of people because he worked in the uniform sector. I got a hunch that he is infected with Covid 19 and is cu...

Re: A beginner flute for short fingers?
Try the Tipple F first before you go to the D.
Also Doug creates an offset holing if you requested it.
My Tipple C,D,E, G have some offset.... Yes I am a Fan.
Regards,
Angel

Re: To lip plate or not to lip plate?
Ive been making some progress.
With the undercut, I dont need the lip plate anymore.
Its loud on the low notes and sweet and gliding with the 2nd octave notes.
Thanks

chas wrote:My first thought, before reading your questions, was that you probably need an undercut. It doesn't have to be huge, maybe 5-10 degrees. Try a little bit at a time till your octaves are well balanced.
Hi,
Is the undercut some some sort of an angle?

Re: Piccolo
Hi, I got a piccolo in D by Jem Hammond. It is great. With embouchure control you can reach the first 4 notes of the 3rd octave making its playable range 2 and a half octave. Ive ask him to make me in C,B and C# since 2016 and make it tunnable, but he is still busy. As per the shrillness, its ...

To lip plate or not to lip plate?
Hi Everyone, Due to the quarantine and boredom I guess after studying a lot about investment management, I decided to make a flute using a CPVC pipe with 18mm ID and 2mm wall thickness. After using the flute tone hole calculator I made a low F and plan to make an F#. I made a lip plate using a PVC p...

This is very Interesting.
Though I do prefer a black one. Im very curious to try. But since its COVID season, I cant risk it though.
Maybe after the pandemic.
Can you also print an 8 whole flute?

Re: Drilling some thumbholes
Hi Stanton, I didnt want to go far away from the Irish Traditional Fingering. It will confuse the wiring of my brain. But I kinda foreseen that coming. If I want to put the flattened third on the opposite side, the theory is it should be aligned with the B2 whole but smaller. The B2 hole is already ...

Drilling some thumbholes
Hi all, This might spark hatred but nevertheless I will be brave. I was recently playing Music of the Night from the Phantom of the Opera and it sounds sooooo good on my Susato C# Low whistle ( Head Susato, Body CPVC Pipe Home Made) Then during the bridge it modulated to a key that needs a flattened...

Hi, Based on some brand new and second hand purchases I have done, they did. I noticed that the brand new (as of 2012 purchase) has serrated joints. I also noticed that in L-Series, the joint on the older models have 2 O-rings and no serrated joints. Now (as of 2012 purchase) they have 1 O ring and ...

Re: Complete noob with a noob question
Its the amplification. Normally the whistle is on a quiet volume on the low. If it is loud on the low then it is superloud on the 2nd octave. You may induce a bit of volume by breathing it instead of blowing it. It will require a great lung control though as the natural tendency is to blow it withou...

Re: Is your Susato mature now?
Hahaha.... im a confessed Susato Lover. Being a plastic whistle, I don't think it will mature like a wood does. What matures/improve is your breathing control. When I tried my Susato Low D for the first time.... it felt like my lungs are gonna come out. Developed a cough reflex for a week, but with ...

Re: I made a Flute
Hi, Can I ask about the Tuning on the second octave? Do you also have a polymer lip plate? I dont like the taste of aluminum. Also do you also produce it in different keys? Do you do multiple body in single head? Like B C# and C. How about oval or squarish oval embouchure? Howabout finger offset for...
