WTB Keyless McGee 5088 or McGee Rudall Refined
Always worth a try... I'm seeking a keyless McGee 5088 or Keyless Rudall Refined from the CONUS side of the pond, if anyone is favorable to letting one go for a reasonable price. I'd prefer the improved elliptical or two semicircles embouchure, if possible. Minimum Disruption Tenon is just fine. Sen...

Re: What is your next favorite flute key after D?
I've really been enjoying my Barna Gabos flute in F. It's a fun key, easy to fill and snappy to play. It allows me to play along with low F whistle tunes and to play trad tunes I normally play on my D flute. While it does exercise my embouchure, it doesn't take much wind.

Angelicbeaver, I really enjoyed your youtube reviews. Thank you for posting those.
I have a Reviol Low D coming my way and I'll likely try some of the other keys, likely a G at some point. I'm blown away by the wonderful character of the Low F.

Re: Synthetic Bore oils
The maker of my flute recommends a light coat of Almond oil. Anecdotally, this has worked well for me for many years. I lightly oil my flute every month or so. I think it is crucial, after oiling (especially with organics) and letting your flute set for a bit, that any surface oil is wiped free from...

Re: Practicing in a Resonant Space
Funny to me to read your post as I've also been playing my flute and whistles around the house whereas I usually play in one room. And, doing so because of the "Shelter in Place" Coronavirus circumstance. I too discovered resonant space in my house I hadn't previously noted. I wanted to re...

Re: flute dampening out
Sounds like a little bit of fatigue. Give yourself a break and go again. Also, no harm in bouncing between the F and D flutes. It just takes time to develop the strength and stamina. You'll get there!

Re: Does anybody use a keyed fife for practicing?
Not a fife, but, I regularly play a wonderful flute in the key of F made by Barna Gabos. Because it is easier to fill than my D flute, it is fun and relaxing to play. However, I find it does require me to really focus my embouchure. It's light, nimble and fun to play.

Bravo Maurice Reviol Low F
I wanted to take a minute to praise my Reviol Low F whistle. It's taken me a few weeks to settle in with this whistle, but, wow, what a great player. On the standard points of review I'd say: the volume is loud but not overly so, breath requirement is quite manageable, it does have a fair amount of ...

FS: Copeland Low F
Hello, I am offering my Copeland brass low F for sale. I purchased it from Loren off this board around 2001 or so. It is a fantastic whistle and in excellent shape and is a really great player in both octaves. I will send photos to interested parties and answer any questions you might have. I'm aski...
