Drones in d (preferably Dave Daye ones) for sale?

Hi,
is anyone considering selling drones in d?
Preferably Dave Daye ones because I want to stay in smaller budget. I am focusing on may Bflat set and want a set of drones for having more buzz at sessions :)
All the best

WTB or WTB - b-flat flute

Hi,
I am interested in getting a B-flat flute, preferably in the the area of 1000 Euro. I am located in Germany)
Alternatively, I have a spare pipe chanter (Patkos, Boxwood, d) that I would also trade for it.

Please feel free to send me a message if you are interested :)

FS: Rogge chanter 4 keys (also interested in trading for a flat chanter)

Hi, I recently bought a used Rogge d chanter with 4 keys in cocobolo as an additional chanter to my practice set. A friend of mine said it is an older Rogge chanter and the Liam O'Flynn model. What I can say is it has a bigger bore than my other chanter (10+ year old Patkos Rowsome chanter). The ree...

Byuing new or used drones (or any part of the pipes)? Pro and contra?

Hi, I what do you see as pro / contra concerning buying used pipes, especially drones? I just bought a new (used) chanter as an upgrade for my practice set and want get drones sooner than later. Now I think about ordering drones from a maker, or looking for nice used set of drones (as soon as I have...

Re: Geert Lejeune Flute Impressions

I have had a keyless and Lejeune Pratten in blackwood for about 1 1/2 year and recently got a six keyed body from Geert (and sent him back the keyless one). First of all, Geert is a really fine business man. When I ordered the keyless flute, I got it exactly within the 1 month time span Geert announ...

thanks for the replies so far!
The flute is a block mounted one and both keys are definitely touching the wood..

Two cork bumpers on flute keys missing - is it intentional?

Hi, I recently noticed that two keys of my flute (g# and short f) are missing cork bumpers. Do you think the maker actually forgot about them and is it bad for the wood if they keep missing? I think the blocks for the keys are a bit short and I can hardly see how especially the short f key could ope...

Re: Self made cork bumper for a key?

Hi, thanks for the suggestions so far! Somehow I did not think about just using cork form a wine bottle, good call! My keys are not made form solid silver, but from silver plated brass - does someone know has to be considered? Would be unfortunate, if the plating could deteriorate due to some reacti...

Self made cork bumper for a key?

Hi, recently I noticed that a key of my flute has lost its cork damper thing. I don't know the exact terminus :D I mean this cork thing that prevents that a key scratches the wood... I would like to di this little repair by myself, because I think sending the instrument through multiple countries fo...

Re: oiling frequency / dryness

Do you guys explicitly oil the finger holes? I do that but so far I haven't oiled that holes under the keys. Do you think it is necessary to do that? You don't need to soak lined head joints and with unlined headjoints I'd removed the cork first. I heard that you should be careful with the cork at t...

Not too hard (or high!) 19th century repertoire?

Hi, I want to make more use of my keyed flute, a 6 key Pratten model. I would like to play "classical" music that was played on these instruments back then. I have already played some baroque stuff (Telemann, Boismortiere, Quantz) on my 6 key flute, that I used to play on my Boehm flute. I...

Re: Boehm key mechanism in wood, is that art or madness?

Some woodworkers just don't know when to quit. :) Small pieces of wood like to move over time in response to the environment, and don't handle abrasion well. So I'm calling it more of an art project than an instrument you'd want to keep for a while. If I had the money right know, I would love to ge...

Boehm key mechanism in wood, is that art or madness?

Hi, I just found this Instagram account of a Brazilian flute maker, who builds Boehm flutes in wood. Even the keys and key mechanism is in wood. That can't be a really working instrument? It has to be more art than an instrument for daily use? What are your thoughts? And the embouchure cuts and tone...

Re: Another overwhelmed beginner looking for her first flute

I have heard this too that beginners have problems with Seery flutes. A friend of mine had the same experience. However, I think that these people usually have no Boehm flute background, therefore I guess it would be a lot easier for you if you tried to learn on a Seery flute. I too had years of exp...
