Re: Tony Millyard Flutes?
I have one of Tony's keyless flutes in F; it is a great little flute, beautifully made, with a sweet and rich tone that can be strong if pushed a little. I don't think you can go far wrong to be honest. I will get some keys fitted later in the year, I hope... Don't know about Casey Burns' flutes, ne...

Jon Swayne Website
Out of interest, and in case you hadn't noticed, Jon Swayne has finally got himself a website. Worth a look for window shopping at the very least I reckon. Jon makes superb instruments.

Re: May I ask what kind of music you like to play.
*But what do you think people played on 19th century English flutes in the 19th century? "Come, raise a tune, Master Oak!" "Ay, that I will," said Gabriel, pulling out his flute and putting it together. "A poor tool, neighbours; but such as I can do ye shall have and welcom...

Re: Where do I find a hard case for my pipes?
I got a set of Jon Swayne student pipes in G for Christmas, and expect to acquire at least one more set (D) in the future. Can you recommend a good place to buy a hard case that will be suitable for a varying number of pipes? I've not found anything sensibly priced so far, and am currently using a ...

Re: other wooden flute repertoire?
Yup...much Breton. I also enjoy playing some Centre France style Mazurkas, waltzes and Scottisches on the flute.Sirchronique wrote:Breton! Jean-Michel Veillon!

Re: FS: 8-key Pol Jezequel - Mopane & Silver - From J-M Veillon
I tried a keyless Morpane flute made by Jon Swayne at the last Blowout festival. Jon is best known for his bagpipes but he makes great flutes as well. It is a lovely wood for either instrument.

Re: Ocarina player squeaking whistle
I have not played an ocarina since I was a child so am not really sure how much pressure they require. However, sometimes, when switching from playing the flute or larger whistle to my high D whistle (a venerable wooden sweetheart bought in the 80's), I have to let some air out around the mouthpiece...

Re: On left-handed keyless flutes
I play left handed, whistles and bellows pipes too. Dominic Allan made me an "ambidextrous" keyless flute. It is a beautiful instrument that plays just as well to the right or left. He will fit 'leftie' keys as and when I feel the need of them. I learnt to play the whistle right hand on to...

These are the two sets I play the most and gig with. The first is a 'D' Border Pipe in laburnam by Dominic Allan and the second a 'G' Border Pipe in ebony by Jon Swayne. http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt219/piperJules/My%20Instruments/Dpipe.jpg http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt219/piperJules...

Re: Flute Photos!!! Come post your flute pictures :)
My new flute by Dominic Allan. It is a beautiful instrument though, being used to bellows-blown pipes and whistles, I am finding it a tad difficult to play and breath at the same time!! :boggle: :boggle: :boggle: http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt219/piperJules/My%20Instruments/flute.jpg [/img] J...
