Re: FS - Selling off all my whistles. Please take a look!

As I was scrolling through all those whistles, I thought to myself, for that price, someone ought to buy the whole bunch. I can't. Why don't you play anymore? I wish you could! It's a bit of a pain packing up and mailing out 3-4 packages when I could send out just one. I don't play whistles anymore...

FS - Selling off all my whistles. Please take a look!

I don't play anymore, so I've decided to sell off my collection of whistles. I am the original owner of all these instruments, and all were played very little or not at all. Currently available: - 1 Susato Low D Tunable ABS Whistle (tone sounds close to a wooden flute) - $55 - 1 Susato Alto G Tunabl...

Re: Sweet 'Shannon', Forbes, Tipple, and Dixon flute reviews

Just to jump in on behalf of the Forbes, although I appreciate your review of the new Sweet flute. The Forbes can and does achieve an amazing tone, with complexities, and has no difficulty with octave jumps. Your experience may be the difference between a player of 2 1/2 years, vs. a more experienc...

Re: Sweet 'Shannon', Forbes, Tipple, and Dixon flute reviews

Flutes are much the same, in that they are hard to play outdoors on a windy day. Ha! You got that right. But have you ever tried to play a whistle outdoors on a windy day? It's even worse, because that won't make a sound at all unless you turn at the right angle to the wind. Anyway, thanks for the ...

Re: Sweet 'Shannon', Forbes, Tipple, and Dixon flute reviews

thanks for the review. I know Walt put some time in developing this model, and have no doubt it's a great flute, and the price is amazing ! i played on one of Doug's Bb flutes and it was an amazing player, with a beautiful full and deep tone. Walt has a winner, that's for sure. His 40 years of flut...

Sweet 'Shannon', Forbes, Tipple, and Dixon flute reviews

I just got my Walt Sweet 'Shannon' delrin-type D polymer flute this morning, and thought I would write a quick review of how I'm liking it so far after a day of playing. This is an honest comparison review, and am not trying to knock any flute makers out there. Please take this review with a grain o...

Re: Looking for encouragement, or something.

Pfreddee, fast tunes and sessions seem to get most of the attention. Sadly I think the slower tunes are often overlooked by many players. The most beautiful sounds I've ever heard have been slower Irish / Scottish airs played on the flute or whistle accompanied by harp. There are a few good slow air...

The Dixon polymer flute is now sold . I am selling my Dixon 3-piece polymer flute with brass rings, plus my Tipple low B and low C 3-piece flutes. All 3 of these are excellent flutes, with a wonderful sound. Not too difficult to play. The Dixon 3-piece polymer D flute is older and has some light sur...
